Swansea Linked With Priskin Move Wednesday, 21st Jul 2010 09:07
New Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers is reported to be targeting Town striker Tamás Priskin. The Hungarian international had his most successful season in English football playing under Rodgers at Watford prior to his £1.7 million move to the Blues last summer.
Despite last year’s poor showing, when he scored twice for Town before being sent out on loan at QPR, Priskin was not one of the eight players made available for transfer earlier in the summer. So far in pre-season, the 23-year-old has been a regular starter in Roy Keane's side.
Meanwhile, Sheffield United have confirmed that they will pay the wages of former Blues loanee Simon Walton for the entire season, despite the on-loan Plymouth player picking up a season-ending cruciate knee ligament injury.
Blades boss Kevin Blackwell said: "He is contracted to us for this season so we are responsible for his wages."
The 22-year-old only moved to Bramall Lane last week and suffered the injury in a friendly against Mansfield.
Elsewhere, former defender Titus Bramble is set to join Sunderland from Wigan. The clubs have agreed a reported £1 million fee and the 29-year-old is to hold talks regarding personal terms and undergo a medical at the Stadium of Light.

Let Them have him we do not want him so what if we lost money we are losing money keeping him here

The surprising thing to me is the number of Keane-lovers who want to get rid of Priskin without conceding that Keane wasted money last year (especially on Martin). Don't they realise that he's just as likely to waste the proceeds again. I say lets hold onto everyone & wait until we have a decent manager who can buy wisely

Totally agree with you These_aren't_the_days....I just hope that Curbishley is still available when Keane's finally gone.

I think that it depends on how we start the season. If I was Evans and we start badly I would replace Keano quickly and allow my money to be used by the new manager. If we start well I would support Keano. There is nothing worse than dropping out of the race early as it is difficult to motivate the players and crowd, not to mention attracting decent players. A lively start will lift the gloom in the town and on this web site. COYB

Time for him to move on, we got a dud. One goal in 13 appearances for QPR on loan shows the problem is with him and not us. I agree Keane wasted money on this one, but I still believe in Martin as his last few performances at the end of last season and in pre-season have been encouraging. Apart from that I don't think Keane has bought disastrously, and his bringing through the younger players is surely a big plus.

well we've finally got onto the same old "keane out" comments. very constructive

Firstly keane has made mistakes in the market but he only tried to sort out the team and perhaps the did have much to choose from. but lets give him alot of praise he brought through Wickham, all the top boys want him but keane has made it clear many times that he is staying put. Alot of other managers would have taken the 5 million. Good on you keane. Next season he probably worth 20. lets a take a look at the darren bent mistake. Should I say anymore. COYB.

I think the problem with Priskin is more to do with roy keane's man management than the players ability. Keane just can't seem to get the best out of the players as demonstrated by the fact that no-one stood out over the mediocrity of last season. I was also at the psv game and the total lack of creativity was shocking. The problem is keane not Priskin

Cash in I say, never really looked interested enough/good enough (but I can't work out which one it is) here. 500k towards Chopra as i doubt we'll see much more return than that sadly!

Lightningboy what has Curbishley done that keane has`nt he`s only really noted to have done well at charlton and that took him ten odd years and with an assistant manager.

Why did Priskin only score 1 goal in 13 at QPR then ITFC_Budapest?

i totally agree with serouslydeliusional. get off keane back, he is doing his best. this club expected him to come in and not lose. give him time He'S fully comitted to our club, didnt even go to world cup to get his head down and get players in. This man wants to bring us to glory. Give him a chance, get off his back. Or better still, you apply for the job.

dej210 ...stop going on about how well Keane has done with Wickham ,Magilton got him into the squad first and as the talent he is anyone would have played him what is good about that? And him staying is nothing to do with Keane if the money is right the board will sell .Magilton also played Smith before he got injured .And as for getting rid of Magiltons crap squad is that Mac player of the year , Wright one of our most consistent defenders ,Norris ,Peters,Smith,Walters and Stead our two top scorers last season,Garvan and Counago our only truly creative players . The weak links at the start of the season last year were Priskin,Martin,Healy,Trotter,Edwards and Delaney at left back when a number of Keanes signings were moved on or not regulars the season started to turn around .Panic buys which is why Evans has not backed him this season financially

surco72.. you have made a very good point. but i disagree with the week links. delaney is prob our best defender at the moment. Martin started well but went down hill..dont know why.. but he is having good reports in pre-season. I agree that he did do panic buys, but he needed to do something after we had the dreadful start. I think he will do well trust me. We will start great this year. COYb

I would be happy to see Priskin go for at least over a million to compensate part of these ridiculous £1.7M we paid Watford for him. And this will be the perfect place for him to go — no one will pay money for him but Rodgers. As I said many times Stead is faaaaaaar better than Priskin so leat us keep him and on top of that we can raise some money to get another striker (Hopefully Chopra who is the best option for us from the potential new comers)

Just wasted about 5 minutes reading this, At first it started off being about the Priskin and a possible link to him moving to swansea and guess what all the anti Kean fans on here have turned it on him, I put it to anyone on here to read any or the articals on here and i bet they all end with someone slagging off our Manager, Here's a thought, Talk about the artical and support the team we all love, I know we have 'out with kean' supporters on here and yes they are entitled to there view but come on people it does get a bit tiresom when all you can talk about is him, i think secretly it's because they all put so much belief in him and were in awe when he first came that they thought we would be playing Prem football this year!!! well Rome wasn't built in a day i'm sorry to say and good things come to thoughs who wait, IF kean was to get the boot and we got the likes of Curbishly or another in and things didn't pan out straight away would we all be slating him?? the manager always has to get his own team in place and that does take time. Don't judge him on last year and a couple of bad signings, Judge him on this season........i think some might be suprised how well we do.... COYB

Swansea have no money. I cant see them bidding and if they do it will be silly money. Dont think Priskin will ever do anything for us but do we take a 1.2 mill hit on him ?
corshamblue added 14:57 - Jul 21
Keano! If he sells, brilliant. I was happy when he signed, thought he'd be good for us. Hey, Ho, Hum - it didn't work out and now we're stuck with a pup! All the Anti Keane talk is Clap Trap - Twaddle at best. He raises the profile of the squad and his first year we had too greater hopes, kind of brought on by the man himself, A realistic push into the top 6 by Christmas and take it from there. Finish strong. Maybe with Priskin off the books a proven goalscorer can come in to support and nurture CW.

Anyone seen on Sky that we are supposedly making a move for Martin Fulop of yep you guessed it Sunderland? Not sure if we really need another goalkeeper!
TheTrapDoor added 15:43 - Jul 21
This looks like a Marcus Evans fire sale , get as much of his money back as he can and drop Town like a hot brick , surely he can see by now all he is ever going to do is lose millions more the longer he stays.

comeonthegoodtimes: I agree 100%... judge RK on this year, not last... As far as this story is concerned, we would have the luck of the Irish if we could offload him... really would, but i suspect it's just paper talk... shame if it is!
