Keane Relaxed on Contract
Keane Relaxed on Contract
Friday, 5th Nov 2010 15:11

Town boss Roy Keane says he’s relaxed about his contract situation, echoing last night’s comments by chief executive Simon Clegg. Keane’s current two-year deal is up at the end of the season.

The Blues manager said: “I’ve got seven or eight months left on my contract. It’s not really a problem. The club might be thinking about it but thinking about doing something and doing something are completely different.

“I’m dead relaxed about it. It will be dictated by results and how we do over the next few months.”

Meanwhile, Town have refused Charlton permission to play loan midfielder Lee Martin in this Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Barnet. Town are able to recall Martin from his loan spell in January.

Lee who???? Completely forgot about him. Is he doing anything at Charlton, or is he still a complete waste of space?

Well, I think Keane will be gone anyway by the time his contract is up. Either sacked or he walks. The Budgie game and the WBA games will probably be his last.

Sadly I think you're wrong whoppit, cleggy is as blind as some of our supporters thinking Roy is the man.

Yes, I think I'd be fairly 'relaxed' if I had £27m in the bank!

It's a good thing that Keane has already made his money. I would hope it would prove to the doubters out there that he's here for all the right reasons. He certainly doesn't need to face drivel like half the stuff posted here with £27m in the bank does he? He obviously craves success as a manager and loves the game so why not get behind the man? We're one point off the play-offs and in the last 8 of a cup for fecks sake!

What an @rse. He shouldn't be relaxed. I certainly wouldn't be if I was performing as poorly at my work with a review barely 6 months away. Unless I really didn't care ...

Well said BlueBob... It's a shame people have to be so constantly negative about every story on here. I think there is a touch of jealousy amongst a few that Keano has a few bob in the bank. I personally think it proves his love for the game and for a challenge. A few more fans need to get behind the team and the manager. 1 point off the play offs and in the last 8 of the cup show that there is plenty to be optimistic about. COYB. (and yes I do want the best for town and I'm not happy settling for championship football.. But I'm also a realist and appreciate that these things take time and money and there are plenty of teams with a similar budget and setup to ours and also we don't have a god given right to be competing in the PL or at the top of the championship for that matter - Deal with it)

Keane can't win can he? Whatever comments he makes will be misinterpreted some way or another. Let's get behind the man and the team and see what happens when the contract is up. I know things haven't been great BUT we could be a lot worse off for managers AND he does now seem to have a good set of lads in the team. Up the Blues!

tractorlowrie has it spot on, its unfortunate but that needs to be said on every article on here after the so many negative comments all the time.

I wonder if he wants to stay?

You know Whoppit, it's a shame that 'supporters' like yourself don't have fixed term contracts which the club could choose to renew or not.

dannysigma - that would be a great idea!

Presumably Keane was asked about this, as I forever seem to be reading about his contract! As he said, it is fairly simple: the renewal will depend on results. We need to improve and get promoted to achieve the set objectives.

Dannysigma I totally agree Whoppit out, from not a Keane supporter but an Ipswich supporter.

Its a fact that the clubs who constantly change managers very rarely win much. In any walk of life you need to give people the time to find their way. Ipswich have done this with Ramsey Robson Burley and the results are there for all to see. Give Roy another 2 years at least. In that time hopefully he will have achieved promotion and proved the doubters including Elvin, 'lets have a dig at Keane in every report' King wrong

I like to think they won't offer him a new contract until the end of the season. (although preferably not at all)

They will give him a new contract. But keane has to deliver and turn this club into serious title contenders or take us to the premiership during his new contract, over wise his time at the club has been a failure. But the board will have to offering him the funds the match the ambtion of the prem that they claim to want. I'm not so sure keane is the man to get us there, but the money will have to come for us to get where we wanna be. Good luck tomoz lads!

how can people say hes performing crap? we're 6th which (as much as i hate saying it) is probably as good as we're gonna get with the group of players we've got. Yes keane has made mistakes but he's not a miracle worker. It just annoys me that people can call themselves town supporters when all they do is come up with ways to stir up rubbish. If you were a true supporter, you would get behind the team whatever the weather. If we're nowhere near the play-offs at the end of the season then you can criticise keane, but its a joke doing it now in the position we're in.

Fatcatevans ....Chelsea 4 managers in last three seasons ,Inter Milan 3 managers in last three seasons ,Barcelona 4 managers in four seasons not many trophies in that lot .
QPR four managers in last two seasons but will probably win our league ,its nothing to do with settling in or a time period its about money and gelling a team around a tactic ,gameplay and formation and getting the best out of your players ,i will say again what players have consistently become better players under Keanes control ?
