Keane Looking to Bounce Back at Norwich Monday, 22nd Nov 2010 09:15
Boss Roy Keane hopes next Sunday’s derby will prove the ideal game for his side to return to form after three successive defeats (BBC1, 1pm). Robert Koren’s second half strike was enough to give Hull City a 1-0 victory over the Blues at the weekend.
Keane said: “Hopefully it’s a good game for us to try and bounce back. It’s away from home and it’s a derby and we’ve watched enough games to know they’re hard to predict and that in a sense your form goes out the window.
“That might be a good thing because our form over the last three games, despite the effort having been fine, has seen us lose games. You can’t keep losing football matches because the pressure builds and then you go into the next game and it’s a ‘must-win game’.
“Then sometimes you take silly gambles, but first and foremost going into the game next week we want to be hard to beat and we’ll take it from there.”
The Blues boss says everybody at a club feels it when a side loses games: “Pressure builds on everyone when you don’t win football matches. I keep saying pressure builds from within. We’re disappointed ourselves and next week is a game we want to win because we’re dropping down the league. The derby one is always a good one to look forward to.”
Keane said on Friday that he believed progress had been made in his time at Town, but concedes that his team have to show that on the pitch: “Despite me sitting here and trying to talk a good game, you’ve got to go out and do the business and we’ve not done that. That pressure builds on trying to get the right result in the next game.
“It’ll be a long week because a week is a long time in football, but we’ll have to lick our wounds and our supporters will be looking forward to a tough game next week.”
Meanwhile, on-loan Town defender Jack Ainsley suffered a nightmare debut with Histon having been at fault on three of Luton’s goals as they defeated the Stutes 5-1 on Saturday.

I just want to say whatever the result on Sunday lets keep the keane out etc chants away from Carrow Road. Although our club is falling apart I would hate it to be on show infront of the scummers.

Our animosity towards Keane? You can't tell me that the feeling is not mutual. His comments about generations of Ipswich fans display nothing other than arrogant contempt.

TBH it's not the 'attractiveness' or not of the football which is getting me down (I don't get to see Town play very often anyway) and gradually (reluctantly) forcing me to relinquish my position as a 'Keane Inner' - it's the hard reality of the results. Contrary to most on here I could stomach the ugly hoofball if we were winning games on a regular basis. But not only is it not pretty, it is also ineffective. Since the beginning of September, ITFC have won just 6 out of 16 games (in all competitions) and accrued 14 out of a possible 42 points in the League. With that kind of form, our steady decline down the table is not surprising - and other results have gone our way on several occasions. The future does indeed look grim, especially if we're now trying to 'steal' 0-0 draws. We need a win on Sunday, but that needs to be followed by further successive victories to launch a respectable challenge for the promotion places. The bad run has to end, rather than just being interrupted. Nevertheless, COYB on Sunday!

I remember the same thing happening two years ago... the change didn't exactly work out too well. If the team doesn't perform he'll be sacked. Do you know where I'm going with this?

I never like any manger getting the boot and have always supported roy but with a heavy heart feel its now the end Roy may be wanting to bounce back but sorry mate we want you bouncing down the road and away from us. I think this thread has been telling the last 18 months it has been heated and even nasty between the pro keane camp(which I am now sad to admit I was in) and the anti sadly this post is 99% keane out the time has come and Marcus must now act!!!!!!!!!

Meekreech - you are very wrong. I have never been overly keen on seeing managers sacked in the past, but with keane it's different. He just seems to be wrong on SO many levels - professionally (as a tactician, as a manager, as a man-manager, as a judge of player), plus on many personal levels (he's arrogant, egotistical, thinks himself bigger than the club and the fans, overly stubborn), and overall he's just so wrong for Ipswich.

Dispite our recent poor form the team and the manager still have my full support. Yes, mistakes have been made but our squad is a work in progress and I have confidence that Keane will turn our fortunes around. I just hope that he's given the chance.

There are loads of interesting posts and viewpoints here. Very hard to know where to start - it is fair to assume that most Ipswich fans want to beat Naaarwich on Sunday but some would be happy to lose if it means the end of Keane. I for one hate to see them beat anyone, let alone us, and feel that victory or at least a battling draw (with some attacking football) is what we should crave. One win should not make any difference to the feeling about how Keane has sounded off about our club and our fans. Players seem to be lining up daily to support him - almost as if they are being threatened to do so. Perhaps Mr Walters will spill some more beans soon to explain what really does go on? What we need is a manager who can relate to the fans, the players and not be one dimensional in his thinking - a person who can be respected by all. Jim would one day have possibly made a decent manager - but it was not the time or the club for him. As for the current incumbant.....what can you say wrong man for the wrong club - not just a matter of wrong timing. Is it a co-incidence we have no assistant manager - is that because he is afraid that having one would merely show up more of his inadequacies?

I don't buy that Roy Keane is a bully or a nightmare to play under. Quite a few players have come from Sunderland and that wouldn't happen if he was that bad. I also don't buy that he is full of himself, I just think he is honest with what he thinks and just talks his mind. I actually quite like his honesty. However, before you start thinking I am on his side, I am not. I have never watched an Ipswich game since he has been in charge and actually understood what the game plan is. Its like his pre match team talk is ‘kick the ball in the net guys.' Tactically he is poor and I think he is set in his ways a bit and is stubborn. Results talk and after spending that much money, the return isnt good enough. If he is to remain then he needs to start playing football and try something different — if we turn up and play football on Sunday and win, he may just save himself for a while longer. Fans expect good football and/or results. Football wouldn't be the worlds most popular game if everyone played like we are at the moment.

We really have become a joke of a Club. Talking to two avid Norwich fans today - they hope Keane stays as our Manager for ever, and reckon he is the best thing thats happened to Norwich City in years. Don't think we could disagree with them - on the second point. He just has to go - if not, where are we heading ?? - he most certainly doesn't know. In fact does he know anything about Football ? - other than a spherical object is used. If he does know more, why is he doing everything other than proving otherwise ????????????????????

i have read posts right through the forum and board and i cant believe people still think he (Keane)is the right man for Ipswich , it just beggers believe. Ignore all pre points regarding this subject and please make an honest judgement when you see the team selection and dread the next awful performance. ITFC has been found out like any team does but usually in that scenario the manager of the team will adapt, change tact or counter attack our weakness but our manager is clueless, stubborn(idiot) he is also socially inept and now he is under pressure you will see the same kinda madness and siege mentality that was seen in Hitlers last days (if you think i am over reacting watch what happens at Portman road this season) but as a supporter who will no longer watch the cr8p on show i also think that when Keane finally leaves (sooner rather than later) that idiot Clegg can go (wanted to swear) with him!! I post this before the Naarwich game because i am pretty confident by the time that game finishes i will yet again be spitting feathers and willing to ring the wifes neck (sarcasm, please dont be offended) because i will be angry at what i see. This is what has happened at our Club , i am now dreading the next performance but what i find really bizarre is that if for some miraculous reason we win at Norwich i will be very happy and the wife will have a stay of execution (again joking) but a bit of me will be dissapointed because Keane will also have a stay of execution! now if i feel like that i am either a lunatic or there is something seriously wrong at this football club! And please dont give me all that rebuilding and adapting nonsense because as i have previously posted if there were signs of something promising in the pipeline i wouldnt expect instant success, but all we have got is an unbalanced squad with too many loanees topped off with our best players being played out of position or being deselected for man of match performances! ITS RUBBISH I SAY AND WE NEED TO TAKE THIS CLUB OUT OF THE HANDS OF THE WALLIES WHO KNOW HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS BUT NOT A FOOTBALL CLUB, KEANE LEAVING IS NOT ENOUGH, TIME TO TURN OUR ATTENTION TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DEBACLE !!!
