Wickham Nets as Reserves Lose at Spurs
Wickham Nets as Reserves Lose at Spurs

Connor Wickham found the net for the first time in a Town shirt this season but couldn’t prevent the reserves from falling to a 4-1 defeat in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Spurs this afternoon. Wickham's goal will give manager Roy Keane something to think about ahead of his goal-shy side's trip to Norwich for Sunday's East Anglian derby.

The England U21 international put the Blues ahead with a left-foot shot in the first half but the home side struck four times after the break through Cameron Lancaster, Massimo Luongo, Simon Dawkins and a late Harry Kane penalty.

Midfielder Alan Quinn made his return after his groin injury, coming on at half-time, while Colin Healy was also back after his recent hamstring and groin problems.

Shane O'Connor, Jaime Peters, Troy Brown, Arran Lee-Barrett, David Cawley and Ronan Murray were also in the side. Former Town loanee Giovani Dos Santos played the first half for Tottenham.

Reserves: Lee-Barrett, Cawley, Dunbar, Healy, McKeown, Brown, Peters, Lambe, Wickham, Murray and O'Connor. Subs: Hourihane, McLoughlin, Clark and Quinn.

Yawn. Of course he is talented. Of course we might expect to lose against a very interested team

On my Football Manager game in 2014 Harry Kane is on loan at Ipswich from Man Utd and is the leading goalscorer...

No, and no. Wickam is a red card waiting to happen on Derby day.

I remember proper reserves games : nipping in through the empty turnstiles just before half-time to watch the 2nd half for free (saving 10p as I recall) ; kicking a ball about on the practice pitch during half-time (or longer if we were only playing Fulham ..) ; throwing sugar lumps at Mick Lambert as he ran down the wing ; going up and sitting in the Portman Stand which seemed so high in the sky. Happy days in the 70s. "It was long ago and far away". Keane out.

Sorry Daleyitfc, but are you trying to blame the loss of 40 years of your life, modern footballs changes and the lack of local reserve league on Keane?

seriously? Yes I want rid too but get real

farquinell added 08:22 - Nov 25
maybe the behind closed doors friendly at spurs was to have the spurs management team look at him prior to buying in january!

Let's hope his performance was enough to maintain his £10M price tag so that we can cash in on him in Hanuary and give the new manager some money to spend.

A work mate of mine was at the Spurs v WB game last night and saw RK in the executive boxes with TL and CK and he thinks one other, so they obviously stayed on after the Reserves game. My mate went up to him and asked for a picture with him as he is an ITFC supporter, RK never said a word to him just turned round for the camera and turned back again after the shot, not one word was spoken!!! Maybe RK was there admiring what you can do with a quality left winger and wishing he had one, I remember that bloke we had on loan from Spurs, he was really good, what was his name?.... oh yeah that's it, Andros Townsend!!! I wonder what happened to him????
