Keane and Clegg Set to Face Shareholders
Keane and Clegg Set to Face Shareholders
Tuesday, 7th Dec 2010 09:31

Boss Roy Keane and chief executive Simon Clegg are likely to face some stiff questioning from shareholders at the PLC AGM which is being held in the Sir Bobby Robson Suite this evening. Around 3,000 supporters are shareholders in the PLC, which owns 12.5% of the club since Marcus Evans’s takeover in December 2007.

Although not obliged to be at the meeting, Keane attended last year and answered questions with the Blues then having won just one of 17 league games and at the bottom of the Championship.

Chief executive Simon Clegg was elected to the PLC board a year ago and is also set to be at tonight’s meeting, which will be run by David Sheepshanks, who remains the PLC’s chairman.

As part of this evening's formal business, shareholders will vote on re-appointing Sheepshanks and Richard Moore to the PLC board.

Town recently announced losses of £14 million in the financial year to June 2010.

Our dear club is rotting from the top to the bottom! Never felt so low as a town supporter..... As I have said before, Keano never came here with the clear intention of ruining us but the failings on the pitch and at the club do sit with him and Clegg (who for the life of me I can't see does any good whatsoever!) It is surely time to clear the two of 'em out! COYB's!
I would take Hughton any day... And before comments come in about his inexperience and not proven etc. the style of football he plays is brilliant and I think he would be a great long term addition to the club. He has great values, tactical ability and gets the best from players! Sorry to those who disagree but he is my first choice replacement!!! COYB's! Save our Club Now!!!

Must admit there is a feeling around the fan's forum's that something has to give and this meeting will hopefully give us the best feedback on this. Personally I think he has taken us as far as he can and I am torn between our proud tradition of not sacking managers left right and centre and the fear of League 1 football.

The question then would be, who would we get to replace him......

Are any of the Shareholders Action Group still around?
Unfortunatly I cannot attend being 2000 miles away. Between us we use to hold a fair few shares which has now been diluted somewhat but if anyone is still around/alive now is the time to face up again.

We had some lively exchanges in the past and I do think made the board think about modernisation and future direction.

At the moment we only need two directions - get rid of beano and clegg.

Replace Clegg with Sheepy and get a decent experienced manager in with a long term track record.
Doubt we even hve enough shares to get a EGM called now but if we have you can count my 2000 plus in

For god sake Evans bring back Sheepshanks and sack the worst double act in this clubs history!

Blueulster added 10:16 - Dec 7
I agree with 1981 clegg appears to be clueless and our players don't seen to be playing for the manager. they are almost playing with fear. This sounds awful but while I dont want to lose to preston there could be a silver lining to the clouds above PR....

it will be interesting to see how many of the anti's will have the b@lls to look him in the eyes and say leave now, keane has forgotten more about footie than most of the hot-heads who like to wear blue-specs and think everthing in the past was good.

I know Marcus Evans is in charge at ITFC but what do the other board members think of the current set up?

As for tonight it's simple..Keane & Clegg must walk off into the sunset hand in hand...show some dignity guys, you've brought nothing but failure to our club, now go and let us get back to normal.

Bring back Sheepshanks (a guy who does actually love the club unlike Clegg)..and (unless we can get Burley away from Palace!),bring in Curbishley & Holland.

All you attending tonight - Give 'em hell.

Tractorroy1 you have said it yourself Keane has "forgotten more about footie than most" perhaps that is why he doesnt know his best eleven, his tactics are rubbish ,his signings are rubbish ,his team has no width ,pace ,skill ,passing ability ,confidence ,a natural finisher and he has the worst win ratio of any Ipswich manager !
Hopefully he might remember some of it before he gets us relegated

That's what I said straight away bloooCD but a risk don't you think, much like keane was from the start?

I'm a bit surprised that they are going to be honest. This meeting is largely pointless but has to be held as a point of law. ME has the majority of the shares and the others don't have enough to change anything.

To be fair, it's quite brave of RK and SC to turn up when they don't need to. I'm sure they will just peddle some more of the usual rubbish ("we are making progress, still learning, have the backing of ME, etc) but I'm not sure anyone is listening to that any more - the alarm bells are ringing to loudly!

Legend added 11:10 - Dec 7
Clegg is the weak link between all this.
ME didnt get where he did today by making the wrong choices, He will stick by Keane until his contract runs out.
Clegg didnt get the deals done in the summer

Garv... I just have a real liking for the guy! I think he would fit the club well.. We can't land a name like O'Neill as we are right in the mire! But Hughton's clear ability to get a team believeing in themselbves and delivering surely can't be questioned!?!?!
He got Newcastle where they are on something of a shoestring... The players always came out and spoke for him (Genuinely and not prompted because their contracts were almost over!)
Our journeymen are Keano's puppets and Hughton is leagues above! He cocahed for ages at Spurs and had success at Newcastle... Seriously I believe this guy will take us places if we offer him the chance! My front runner for replacement!COYB's!

Whats with all the comments about how hard Roy Keane is? some people seem to talk him up as if he could have taken Lenny "The Govnor" McLean during his prime! I'm sure there'd be a lot of people willing to stand up, look him in the eye and say go.

What they 'think' and what they can do about it are miles apar. Evans owns 87.5% of the club, the 'board' is a token jesture for the 12.5% including me, it is also a vehicle to allow Evans to hear what is going on at the FA by giving Sheepshanks the title of 'chairman' (of 12.5%).

BlooooCD added 11:29 - Dec 7
Just a little more to suport Hughtons case...
Whilst at Spurs he served under ten different managers, who include; Ray Clemence, Doug Livermore, Osvaldo Ardiles, Gerry Francis, Christian Gross, George Graham, Glenn Hoddle, David Pleat, Jacques Santini and Martin Jol. He also served as caretaker manager on two separate occasions. With Hughton on board, Tottenham finished in fifth place for two consecutive seasons (2005—06 and 2006—07), while also winning the Football League Cup in 1998-99.

Am I on a one man mission with this thought process fellow supporters??? I am open to all views and constructive opinions... COYB's

I think a fair and honest question directed at mr keane, why hasn't he got a number two to bonus ideas off,

This season is dead. Roy Keane will leave. What to do? Will we get what is best for the club, or Roy Keane or Marcus Evans.

The sensible thing to do is 1.) avoid relegation, 2.) look for a new manger 3.) sack Roy Keane. 4.) appoint new manager.

The priority is too achieve the above as soon as possible.

The only time I ever "slated" Sheepshanks was when George Burley got the sack(and i'm not holding him entirely responsible - he was the mouthpiece).

BlooooCD..as for Hughton..yeah,he's a great coach,a nice guy and has done a good job at Newcastle BUT you would've said that about Keane after his first 12 months at Sunderland...he's still too new to management for my liking and relatively untried in the transfer market (was it him that signed leon Best?)

For me it has to be Burley or Curbishley...two guys i'd trust handing over the reins to - tell them to build this club back up ala what George did 15 years ago - even if it takes 4 or 5 years...i'm not a fan who's demanding instant success, but when something's blatantly not right - like now - then there has to be a change.
