Keane: I'm Not Walking Away
Keane: I'm Not Walking Away
Thursday, 16th Dec 2010 11:25

Blues boss Roy Keane says he hasn’t thought about walking away from Portman Road despite the current poor run of form which has seen his side drop to 18th in the Championship. The Town manager spent some a few days in Manchester earlier this week reflecting on the Blues’ woes.

With no sign of the beard which was noted in the wake of the Preston game on Saturday, Keane said he hadn't considered leaving Portman Road during a couple of days back in the North-West: “I’ve not thought about packing it in.

"Sometimes I think you need to step back, we all do that and I’ve done it before. You step back, recharge your batteries and look at something from a different angle.

“People think it’s about being on the training pitch, but sometimes not about being on the training pitch. You’ve got to step back from it.

“I had a couple of days with one or two good friends from outside football in Manchester, even away from my family. I think they enjoyed the break from me, it works both ways.”

Keane, who says it's irrelevant whether he has spoken to owner Marcus Evans in recent days, considers himself lucky to be at a patient club like Ipswich, with other managers having been sacked more quickly elsewhere, but admits that eventually that patience will run out: “You can’t keep losing football matches.”

Just heard some of Keane's press conference on sky sports news this morning. You can't help but admire his honesty and feel sorry for him a little.
I know I'll probably not be too popular, but I think he should stay but get in a good assistant who could help him out and maybe step in at the end of the season if it continues to not work out. Maybe Ray Wilkins or even Matty Holland could be a good idea.
Lets face it, if Keane goes, all of you suggesting O'Neil or Jol etc as replacement are deluded. We are never going to get anybody as high profile as him again, unless we significantly improve.
Even legend George Burley struggled until he got an experienced assistant in (Gorman) and he was of a pretty similar age and experience of RK.
Lets get behind our players and our club and be a 12th man tommorow, whatever you think of the manager, please.

Sounds as if ME has not reached the tipping point with RK... ...yet. Have a feeling that he will remain in place provided that we avoid relegation by a decent margin. If we don't - or if we just scrape through then it may be (should be) a different story.

Good point by arc123 - hard to see a high-profile manager wanting to come to the club (and I'm not sure that being 'high profile' is a good qualification anyway) unless ME is prepared to invest heavily again.

Ah well - COYB!!!

......Roy is never going to admit defeat as a manager and that might just be the problem.

Roytheboy, I really didn't think it was possible for anyone to be as stupid a fool as you, but seems I'm wrong. (If people can't remember what he said, it's us fans that are responsible for "destroying the club" apparently.)

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeez, other words fail me I'm afraid.

Oh, and we don't need O'Neil or Smallerdyce or any other 'high profile' guy, who certainly wouldn't come to us anyway - we just need someone COMPETENT - not hard to find - many successful & experienced in lower leagues couldn't do any worse than RK, and there's no getting away from that.

Congratulations Ryorry, I wondered how long it would take before a moron would reveal himself, you should read other people's postings with respect and take the positives, even if you don't like all that you read, cruel heartless idiots are incapable of seeing themselves for what they are and seem to think it is clever and ok to try and destroy other people with their disgusting remarks, because I have a differing opinion to your own you have chosen to insult me on this site, you have however only shown all the intelligent posters on here what a tunnel visioned idiot you are, you remind me of a child who cannot have his own way, I am entitled to my opinion without having to accept your insults, I stand by what I said, in my opinion people like you are doing our club much more harm than good and ultimately probably more harm than any Manager ever could, perhaps only the wise are capable of appreciating this, I am passionate for ITFC to do well and accept that Roy Keane may not be the right man to take us forward, only time will tell, either way it is the owners choice who he appoints to Manage and I respect his decision, this site should be a forum for intelligent debate and sharing opinions, not for people like you to call me a stupid fool because I'm brave enough to stand up and be counted with opinions that thankfully differ considerably to yours, incidentally you will never ever see me insult an individual poster on this site, other than when retaliating to a personal attack on myself, which is the case in this instance.

roytheboy - Ryorry is not having a pop at you because of your difference in opinion, he is the same as me , i have read your previous post and i also am lost for words at the utter stupidity of your post and maybe we should turn your comments around and state that it is complete dillussional fools like you that keep saying "give him a chance" that are helping to destroy this club!!!!!! after 18 months there is still confusion if not complete anarchy as to what tactics, players, attitude Ipswich are going to play and even a 5 year old child can work out that Keane is a waster, and will people please stop comparing Keane to other ITFC managers because all situations are unique but i am very confident in saying that under Magilton it was frustrating but under Keane it is making me very very angry even Mick Mcgiven had more sense than this insult of a manager and i promise you i was a Keane supporter to try and show support but enough is enough and if stupidity is shown by more fans like me at first and now idiots like you, then the dillusional fool will not quit and i ASSURE YOU WE WILL GET RELEGATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lunatic38 thank you for your response, as I have said, I am entitled to my opinion just as you are, however you have chosen to call my posting utter stupidity and you refer to me as an idiot and call me a fool, therefore you are showing the same level of bad manners as your friend Ryorry, ultimately I do not care who manages our club I will always support them and never publicly insult them in a manner that can only be described as disrespectful, rude and unnecessary, I moan about Roy Keane just as much as the next Supporter when he appears to have made the wrong decisions, but not on a site like this, he deserves better than to be publicly insulted and so do I, perhaps in future you should consider being just a little more polite and friendly with your postings, have a nice Christmas.
