Murphy to Undergo Operation
Murphy to Undergo Operation
Thursday, 30th Dec 2010 15:46

Keeper Brian Murphy will undergo an operation this evening having injured his ankle in training last Thursday. The Irishman is still expected to be out of action for three months.

Manager Roy Keane said: “He’s having an operation tonight, I’ve just been talking with the medical staff. We wanted it to settle down. We don’t think it will have an impact on his date of recovery.

“It’s Murph’s first operation and he’s done well for a keeper as they usually break something, don’t they?”.

Youngster Shane O’Connor suffered a shoulder injury on Christmas Eve which will sideline him for six weeks, while midfielder Luke Hyam has suffered a minor setback on his way back from his hamstring problem and will be out for another week.

Defender Gareth McAuley is still down for an early January return.

Good luck with the op and I wish you a speedy recovery. Hopefully when you're fit we will be chasing down a playoff spot.

And possibly the end of his Ipswich Town Career perhaps???? Broken Leg, nearing the end of Contract... its all up hill from here, but a fantastic athlete nonetheless and I hope I can say from all on here that we wish him a speedy recovery...

If RK is looking to sign a keeper with the same attributes as Murphy I suggest that he goes to Chantry Park on Sunday morning as that is where Murphy should be playing when fit!

I can't see Murphy wanting to stay here in the summer to play second fiddle to Fulop, so with his contract expiring soon I guess we may have seen the last of him. Not a bad signing on a free transfer perhaps, although not quite good enough to be our number one. Will Keane sign another goalkeeper in the transfer window?

Hyam, O'Connor and Murphy have played little part in our season so far, so McAuley is the only definite first teamer out with injury. This isn't too bad for the time of year.
