Sheffield Wednesday Town's Rivals for Fallon Friday, 31st Dec 2010 08:47
League One Sheffield Wednesday are the other club chasing Town loanee Rory Fallon, according to reports in the South-West. The Plymouth striker was said to be the subject of an offer from a rival club earlier in the week.
The New Zealand international is due to remain with the Blues on loan until January 22nd and has said he would like to make the move a permanent one. So far he has impressed during his time at Portman Road and a switch to another League One club would appear to be somewhat less attractive.
Town and cash-strapped Argyle are believed to have agreed a provisional permanent deal when the 28-year-old moved to the Blues in late November.
Meanwhile, former Town striker Paul Mariner has left his coaching role at Plymouth and is expected to take up a position with MLS side Toronto FC.
Elsewhere, ex-Town loanee David Unsworth has been named the caretaker-manager at Preston in the wake of Darren Ferguson's sacking.

All im going to say is if we are seriously looking to buy that is a sackable effence in itself. Your buying players worse than we already have. But then again is this a clue that there is going to be no money to spend, Perhaps fallon is the only player in the £100k range. Worrying times ahead if that is the case.

I felt that Fallen had a good game against Leicester, linking well with Scotland. You don't necessarily have to spend a fortune on a player from the premier league to do a job in the Championship. We need a midfield playmaker and a right back. Stick with it..........be positive

Forlorn isn't as good as some of the players keano has already released, WTF is going on at town ?
brittaniaman added 09:19 - Dec 31
He has not scored but I do like his hold up play and bringing other players in to the game, he is big and strong enough for that, at least he has a few more games to prove himself and see how he pans out, as long as he do not go down the Gary Roberts road if he does sign !!!!!!!!!!

Bobble. This is why I follow town and not some massive club miles from my home. Youth, promising Div 1,2 players, much more fun.

from what i have seen, he doesn't stop running and has got fairly good ball control, he hasn't been here long enough to judge him on goal scoreing abality but i believe he could be a good player, any way if he has a choice of clubs it will be upto god to decide as this is what he basis his decissions on

Oh dear, still can't believe Keane still wants to give Fallon a contract & what's worse is we are actually going to pay a fee for him! The only club to show any interest in Fallon were Southend & Argyle were keen for him to leave so they could get him off their wage bill. The Argyle fans I know were keen for him to leave because according to them he's a complete donkey. I don't know why we have agreed a fee for a player we could have had for nothing! Argyle are desperate to off load their players before they have to go back to the high court in Febuary. Noone (good player) is on his way to Brighton, other clubs are showing interest in Wright-Phillips but his wages will put a lot of clubs off. I don't know who values how much players we're buying or selling at Ipswich but I would say over the last few years they have got many valuations completely wrong.

Some of the comments here are just short of pathetic, yes, Fallon will not get us 20+ goals a season, we have Priskin and Scotland for that, but what Fallon will bring is good ball control, and a real threat from the air, making him a fantastic target man, what he'll lack in goals he'll certainly make up for in assists; 2 against Leicester says it all. Just get behind him and stop acting like a bunch of girls. COYB!

Fallon reminds me of Mariner, good age too. Buy of the season for me (bobble).

Disappointing comments. It is beyond me why some of you so called fans can't give a player a chance. Sure, if he had played 10 games and been awful then criticise the bloke, but he has played a couple of games and actually looked pretty good! Whether he is the answer to our goal scoring problems is another issue - but he certainly sets up chances and wins the ball in the air. Something we have been missing. Keep it up Rory! I would have thought we have all learnt that spending millions is not always the answer! Just ask Burley, Jim as well as Roy!

I think Fallon has looked ok but only as a playmaker feeding it to the strikers? If Keane is going to sign him in my OP he has to play behind the front two strikers we can't play fallon up front as his scoring record is shocking. I still think we need a top top striker. Scotland is a good signing and im confident he will score about 15 goals but we need another striker doing the same if we want to get this club up the table. Simple answer Jordan Rhodes he is a natural scorer and I reckon he will do it at this level with the right service. What are you waiting for town get the Cheque book out!

To be honest I would mind buying him for 100k. You gotta give players chance before you start deceiding how good they. You don't need premiship flops for a good team, look at Barnsley, Doncaster, watford and Even Norwich! They haven't got quality players, just good team playing for eachother! Everyone raised there eyebrows at watford buying Danny Graham...

I am reading comments again saying we need a rb and I am baffled we don't need an f'ing right back!

Let's hope Fallon proves to be a good signing, but the general opinion from Plymouth fans is that he's not very good. Of course fans know nothing as RK has pointed out. It's laughable that someone above likens him to Mariner. The only thing in common is the Plymouth connection. That's like likening Lee Martin to George Best 'cos of the Man U connection!

Get him signed on Keano. He has done nothing wrong since he got here - is a good target man and is linking well with Scotland. And most importantly - he really looks like he wants to wear the shirt.

i suppose he cant be any worse than keane probably a lot cheaper too

He's not fallen or forlan for those who can't seem to spell. He actually looks a good buy if he's less than around 250k I'd say, good control, strength and hold up play. Give him a chance, similar to kuqi (albeit with less goals) doesn't stop running, sign him up and support him and the team. COYB!!!!!!!

Let's give the lad a chance. Scotland if he's in the right place (which he usually is) and gets a good supply he will score loads, he just needs someone like Fallon to give him those balls. I do like Priskin, but he goes for the shot as opposed to the pass, which is usually right, but he's accuracy isn't great!

So we're in competition with a League One club for Fallon? The last time this happened we won the battle and signed Colin Healy! I would love Fallon to come good, but it is a leap of faith as he did not do well at Plymouth going by his 1-in-7 goal scoring ratio and the fact their fans didn't like him. It's very well to give him a chance, but he hasn't scored yet and we can be worried about spending more of Ipswich's money on a transfer fee and wages on the basis of one reasonable performance against Leicester!

I see the morons are out in force. Fallon is proving one thing....he's proving what tw@ts people like bobble are.....
