Colback Recalled By Sunderland But Livermore Gets Cup Nod
Colback Recalled By Sunderland But Livermore Gets Cup Nod
Thursday, 6th Jan 2011 16:28

Midfielder Jack Colback has been recalled by Sunderland ahead of the Black Cats' FA Cup third round tie against Notts County at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. Better news for the Blues is that Jake Livermore has been given permission to play for Town in their tie at Chelsea on Sunday.

Colback had less than two weeks remaining on his loan at Portman Road and has said he'd ideally like to secure a permanent move rather than another loan this month. Blues boss Roy Keane has confirmed that he would be interested if the price is right.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce decided Colback was required back on Wearside after David Meyler suffered a knee injury, Danny Welbeck a hamstring problem and Bolo Zenden picked up a suspension.

More positive news for Sunday's FA Cup match at Chelsea is that Jake Livermore has been cleared to play, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp originally not granting permission.

Town have also asked Celtic to allow Darren O'Dea to play at Stamford Bridge, but Rory Fallon is cup-tied having featured for Plymouth in the competition earlier in the season.

Grant Leadbitter is suspended for his red card late on in the Nottingham Forest match.

Colback was the only loan player who seemed to give a damn. Livermore on the other hand...

I like it when people moan about Keane playing people out of position ,then want Peters in the side any where theres gap right back, left back, right ,centre,or left midfield. In goal next ??

Well, I have read plenty of you lot having a go at Colback this season. Congratulations are now in order. You lot must be very happy !!!!

How come Colback, a good hardworking player for us gets slagged off but some of you lot are happy with Priskin and Fallon who are absolutely $hite is beyond me ???

Good player but didn't fit in the TEAM as in 11 players that go on the pitch and play together - not 36 half strangers

Firstly, I don't blame Sunderland. Personally I haven't rated Colback second time round. Nowhere near as effective. That said has he been played in position? probably not.

Goodnews about Livermore: So that's Edwards, Healy, Livermore, Norris at Chelsea? Or perhaps Peters will start wide left ... at least he now has options.

Yes because Jewell is that much better.

I hope not as with Jewell in we will be goners for certain ! If he comes in it will be the end of us for a long long time ! I for one will not renew my season ticket as he is probably the worst choice ( barring Allardyce ) that could be made ! If he was any good as a manager he would have not been out of work for this length of time ( same with Curbishley ) 1

I agree with some others in saying that the team became unbalanced since Jack returned as Keane changed things around to include him. Having a smaller squad to choose from may actually mean we play players in their proper positions and, as against WBA, performances and results improve

All the best Jack,at least you gave 100%.

Paul Jewell's not been in management for 2 years ! Why the hell do we want him ?

Get ya money on Burley coming back ! Honestly, you heard it here first :~)

Tractorboy keane going i am pretty confident about in fact I think he went today announcement to follow, jewell is an intelligent guess as bookies odds plummeted today, thats normally good indication. He isn't my first choice buthad three promotions as manager two into premiership so better surely than what we have? If I'm wrong and keane here next week drinks on me!!!

bluelady - how do you know he went today???

If we sign Jewell as manager we may as well all give up. Jim would be a better choice and that's saying something!!

When we have a close look at this all... we were in the top 5 of the league at the beginning of the season for a reason!! That was when we were playing 4-3-3 with Hyam holidng and allowing Norris and Leadbitter to get forward. (Norris was our MOM most weeks). We had 3 attacking players scoring (by that I mean 1 goal - not alot). Yes this meant we didnt have width but we played well and won games!!!

Keane decided to flood us with mid field players and because Colback is a "trier" he gets in but unfortunately he doesnt create much. I like the guy but Keane has simply got everything wrong. Playing players for their running ability rather than having a balanced team to play FOOTBALL!!!

I like Keane but it's time he leaves together with his loan signings. Allow someone new to come in and build a foundation for the rest of the season. Enough is enough!! I do have a slight bit of sympathy for Keane as some games we have clearly been unlucky, not helped by injuries and also the fact that Clegg cant do his job has played a MASSIVE PART in Keanes failure. Time for a change. Souns REALLY bad but I have no confidence or excitement about the next few games. More worried about the the embarresment we are more than likely going to experience!! Sad times!

Jas surely anyone is better than keane, jewels has decent track record, but like I say him coming is an intellegent guess could still be one of a number!! Keane may see season out, I just have a very good idea things are afoot at the postman road camp!!!

bluelady - no I disagree. Never been a fan of Jewell. Would be pulling out all the stops for Curbishley.

Wouldn't be disappointed if Roy leaves - but will as always continue to support the team whoever is in charge!

Hearing rumours Keane has gone anyone can you confirm ? Probably press speculation but i hope at last someone is going to sort out this mess , whoever is appointed we must get 100% behind the team if this is true .C,mon you Blues !!!

Tractoyboy please give me some credit!!!!!! Jas don't think u will be alone in your view he isn't my top choice and may still be totally wrong, time will tell! I suspect when keane goes a replacement will be in place already..... let's see what tomorrow brings!!!

Very dark days at Portman Road and the more I look at the table the harder for me it is to see how we are going to get out of this mess. I am personally disappointed that Colback has gone as he gave his all for us and it was not his fault he was played out of position. Give me him over Livermore any day of the week who has been a waste of time and money. Keano will still be here for a while so it is silly speculating on who his replacement will be. Just hope by some miracle something will go right for us soon.
