Loughlan and McParland Leave Town
Loughlan and McParland Leave Town
Thursday, 13th Jan 2011 16:45

Town have confirmed that coaches Tony Loughlan and Ian ‘Charlie’ McParland have left the club.

The pair joined Town under Roy Keane’s management and it is little surprise that they have departed in the wake of the former boss’s sacking last week.

Chief executive Simon Clegg paid tribute to the duo: "I'd like to thank both Tony and Charlie for their commitment to Ipswich Town during their time at the football club and wish them every success for the future.”

Loughlan, who has been close to Keane since their time together at Nottingham Forest, joined Town when the Irishman came to the club in April 2009 and McParland was added to the staff seven months later.

While TWTD understands that reserves coach Chris Kiwomya will remain at Portman Road, there is as yet no news on goalkeeping-coach Jim Hollman and fitness coaches Antonio Gomez and Simon Thadani.

Inevitable really.
I am sure ALL Town fans will thank them, and wish them both well.
However, onwards and upwards...heres to the future, and a backroom staff that PJ feels he can trust, and will take us places where we want to be.

PS Charlie, you will always be remembered because of last nights result, I would like to thank you for last nights result and that memory.

Thanks Charlie and Tony! Amazing performance by all the lads last night - but you too as well. Bold team selection, no unnecessary substitutions, fantastic result. You'll go down in ITFC history.

They certainly went out on a high and the tactics from Charlie McParland were spot on last night. I wonder how much involvement he had in tactics under Roy Keane's regime and how much he was listened to but, anyway, it is all history now. Best of luck to the future for both of them.

If you're as good as your last game, Charlie McParland's stock is sky high. He was a tactical genius last night, wouldn't have believed that anyone could extract that performance from that bunch of players.
Glad that Chris Kiwomya is being retained, I feel that he has got a big future.

They can both go with their heads held high. Inspired idea of putting Kennedy as the holding player, kept Fabregas quiet all night.

Good luck and all the best for the future

Inevitable I am afraid. It happens when a new manager takes over. It doesmake me laugh when people say 'thanks for last night', praising them for the win (rightly so) ... BUT blamed Roy 100% after the Chelsea match!

Jas whoever blamed Roy as you claim, must be an idiot..he was not in charge , was he?

Thanks for last night - the night we smiled again.

Good luck in the future, you'll always be remembered for the 2011 Carling Cup Semi Final home leg.

A personal thank you to Charlie and Tony for orchestrating last nights performance, anyone could see the motivation being beamed from the bench throughout the game. A balanced team with tactics spot on - shame these two couldn't have had a bit more imput before the events of the previous week.

I know 'one swallow doesn't make a summer' - but I hope this Club hasn't just shot itself in the foot again. Only time will tell.

Thank You Both once again - sincerely hope you get fixed up with a really good club.

jas0999, who blamed Keane for the Chelsea result? That's the first I have heard/seen of such a claim.

Good luck & best wishes to Charlie & Tony, the last week must have been particularly difficult for you, but thank you for everything you have done.

jason0999 - you should know by now that 'it's people for you' - some are anything but logical. However I will say that the team last night was VERY well balanced for once - which has certainly not been the case on many / if any previous occasions this season.
It proves to me that Roy Keane could spot a player, and brought good players in - but his tactics and tendency to play players out of position was ........... well we all saw the results of such didn't we unfortunately.
After a 7.0 reverse against Chelsea, a win against Arsenal was a TREMENDOUS result for both Manager/Coach and Players.

Take a bow - everyone of you - thoroughly deserved.

The last thing you done sir at our club was a master stroke putting Kenedy holding. He looked quality there!

Pity you was unable in influence RK.

Charlie proved last night that he should be a number one somewhere and i hope tony tags along with him, as tagging onto keane wont do his credability any good. Thanks lads hope to see you in the away dugout before too long.

blue em away - you're so right, that was a master stroke itself, I've said it before I've rarely seen a better balanced side. It makes SUCH a difference - as everyone could see.

What a way to go Charlie, thanks very much. It would have been a travesty to leave on the low of Sunday, but a performance like that in front of a full house was just what all of us wanted - a memory of what we had once and want again. He proved in 5 days that we're good enough to be chasing promotion.

Respect!

Ian 'Charlie' McParland - The Man, The Myth, The Legend

Sad to see you leave after last night, but way top go out on a high! Your players not only played for their position, but for their fans, each other, and, most importantly, for you. A wonderful sight to see such passionate play from the boys in blue. You got the whole team attacking as one, defending as one, and supporting any teammate that got themselves into trouble.

We'll miss you, Charlie, but we'll always remember you.

Thankyou.
