Edwards Offered Deal
Edwards Offered Deal
Tuesday, 18th Jan 2011 12:27

Midfielder Carlos Edwards has reportedly been offered a new deal by the Blues. The Trinidad and Tobago international is one of 21 players whose contracts are up at the end of the season.

Edwards, 32, joined Town from Sunderland for £1.35 million in September 2009 and has subsequently gone on to make 47 starts and 12 sub appearances, scoring four goals. An option for a third year was included in that deal, which may now be what's on offer.

Skipper David Norris and key defender Gareth McAuley have previously been offered new two-year deals, although neither appear near agreeing terms at the present time.

Bluelady - Trouble is they are not the sort of players who will get you out of the Championship and will never be good enough for the Premier League. Fine to have if you have no real ambition and want to be part of the Championship furniture forever. To be honest i don't think O'Conner is quick enough which brings us back to the same old problem with most of our players and i'm not sure Brown will get enough chances to really profit here. They would be better at smaller clubs in and around our division.

ok Beezer lets choose to disagree. with the possibility of both Delaney and big Mac going i think Brown will get his chance. Those chances he has been given so far he has taken with both hands and shown a good quality. He likes the ball at his feet and his good in the air, unlike some CB's that only know how to hoof. O Connor has not had a good enough run to prove himself, the times i have seen him however i think he is fast enough. Also we all have ambition but currently mine is to remain in the championship let alone premiership! we are a long long way from a premiership team and it wont happen overnight, we need to build slowly and commited young players such as these two will be an asset in that. But we all have a right to an opinion and of course i respect yours! being a woman though i do have to try and have the last word :-)

Bluelady - It's the very last line of your last post that brings a smile to my face as i sit here and think "what do women know about football anyway" ;-).......Only joking of course!

Beezer thing is being an only child to a football mad father (rip), he took me to my first game at 5 against Leeds, I have been hooked every since..... this is also what it should be about having a banter with each other and enjoying football! That is something that has been lost recently and hopefully with a manager with a GSOH will return.... i like to think i can knock back the pints like a bloke too, but that is far too unladylike!!

Crazy, he's been bloody useless, why not let him go, & divide his wage between Maculey & Norris to secure them at the club.

I remember him playing brilliantly against us for Luton a few years ago, if he could replicate that form then great.

Edwards is a strange case - when on form he is excellent - BUT when he is poor ... Very inconsistent, but probably worth a new deal. A shameto throw away £1.35M.

.... a lesson in concentration, a kick up the rear end often, and he maybe OK.
Needs to start proving himself soon - not impressed too much thus far - bit of a expensive luxury in my opinion.

There are a number of Town players who a lot of 'supporters' on this site don't rate. But under a different manager to Keane we might see some of them flourish. Let's wait and see.

Love the way someone here says "knockin in goals for fun from 20 yards" or something like that.
He's scored 4 goals for Ipswich in his entire Ipswich career.
Must have been when he played for Luton or something?
Can see why he has been offered a new contract. He would be released on a free otherwise and would once again demonstrate mismanagement from up high.
Seen him play a handful of times, only thought he played well once.
He's not getting any better with age is he? (some players do, some don't. Edwards is a don't)

No where near the player he was at Sunderland, looks like going by the poll he went missing at the Millwall game along with some of the other contenders of worse player of the season, bar Peters.

If he gonna play right wing and maybe have Chimbonda behind him and Peters pushing to oust him he will come good, not the time to let him go and replace, we have enough of that with the Keane imbalance and greedy bosman free wanna bees!

We have a good right winger, his name is Jamie Peters. Good defensive qualities as well would help out a decent right back.
