Shane O’Connor, who came on as a sub in last night’s Carling Cup defeat at Arsenal, has been added to the Republic of Ireland U21 squad for their friendly in Cyprus on February 9th.

Midfielder or left-back O’Connor, who is yet to win an U21 cap, joins Town keeper Ian McLoughlin and midfielder Conor Hourihane in the squad, while striker Ronan Murray is on standby.

He's a good prospect, despite being a Keane signing - must've been luck! Mind you, as soon as he showed that he had some flair, Keano dropped him. PJ should get the best out of him. Even his few short minutes last night looked good

Seems like he has a good future infront of him. Im surpised how many of keanes signing are now becoming good. Even with Martin i think keane sent hiw down to the lower leagues as he is only 21, make them come back hungry!

Looked to give a spark when he came on last night, delighted to see his career take off.

Shane looks to be progressing quietly. Happy Days.

Got him on a free too!
Keane did sign some useful players but couldnt manage or organise any creative players. Pele would have struggled to get in to Keanes team.

Thought Shane did OK but would have liked to have seen Luchito come on, I think a run out in front of 60,000 would have been good for the lad!

Well done Shane; rate you very highly. Here's hoping you get a decent run in the side for the rest of the season.
