Austin Agrees Burnley Deal - Reports Friday, 28th Jan 2011 12:16
Town target Charlie Austin is widely reported to have agreed to join Burnley on a three-and-a-half-year deal, subject to a medical. The Swindon striker was at Portman Road for talks yesterday but was unable to agree terms with the Blues.
The Clarets matched Town’s offer — reported to be anywhere from £1.2 million to £2 million - and were given permission to speak to the 21-year-old, who travelled to Turf Moor this morning.
Blackpool and Southampton were also chasing the former Poole Town man but failed to agree a price with the Robins.

Why pay such high wages to an injury prone Bullard but not meet the demands of Austin?

Superblue - if they all wanted too much - its the right decision - cant run a club at a huge loss - look at financial mess we were in afew years back - We have a new manager - a resurgent direction on the pitch , and I have far more confidence now than I did a month ago - Focus on the pitch not the boardroom - They have made the best appointment in jewell and Bullard is a good addition - there will be more I am sure of it

How many of you have actually seen Austin play, or know anything about him other than his stats? Still let's all throw a hussy fit.

as much as Clegg obviously has no idea what he's doing, I do wonder how much of this problem is Evans.

Blueherts the guys is from a lower league he's not going to asking for 20k is he!! we have 21 players out of contract in 6 months, so we'll certainly some free wages to give out!!!

So, so typical of Clegg. Austin apparently spends a whole day with us and Clegg fails to conclude the deal. Austin pops up to Burnley this morning and within a few hours the deal is concluded!! Whilst I acknowledge that we must have a wage structure I sometimes doubt Clegg's negotiating abilities. We just missed out on Derry who has a superb season with QPR, the Chopra saga was well reported and now Austin! At least we can recall Lisbie.

Yet another Oly Clegg failure - I guess it was about wages that clinched it - I wonder how much we pay Oly for sitting on the gravy train?
