Murphy Hoping to Be In Reserves
Murphy Hoping to Be In Reserves

Keeper Brian Murphy says he hopes to finally get back into match action after his broken ankle on Thursday when the reserves face Watford at Boreham Wood’s Meadow Park (KO 7pm). Murphy suffered the injury in training two days before Christmas.

The Irishman says if all goes well in the next day or so he hopes to make his return against the Hornets’ second string: "I'm getting there and hopefully if training goes OK then there is a chance I might make the reserve game.

"That will be a step in the right direction. There are still niggles there but in terms of pushing off and diving, then everything is OK.

"It's the worst injury I've had in my career so it's been a new experience for me. It's been very frustrating and while there is never a good time to have an injury and with a new manager coming in, the timing has not been ideal.

"He looks at the players on the training field and I've not been there. I've just got to impress him when I'm fit. I've been second choice keeper for most of the season but when I'm fit then the rest will take care of itself. It will be down to me to show him what I can do."

Murphy is amongst the players whose contracts are up at the end of the season.

will be better competition for Fullop than ALB and i understand Jewell is a fan tried to sign him before so feel he will get a chance..... was unlucky to be dropped when flapper came in, had done little wrong.

Good news. I hope he is ok as I see him playing more of a role seeing as I am the only one who likes Fulop

Sorry, there's no way Murphy is good enough to match our aspirations. Nothing against him but he's too small and his positioning and distribution leave a fair bit to be desired. Good No2 that's all.

He's quite dreadful - His performance at home against Swansea was inept.

Nothing special I don't think, Fulop and Lee- Barrett are more than capable

Once fit, at least Fulop will have competition which might make him raise his game. Got to say though, I don't think that Fulop is the worst goalkeeper in the Championship.
