Town Latest League Club to Check Out Mann Sunday, 1st May 2011 10:17
TWTD understands that Town watched Brantham Athletic striker Ollie Mann as he netted a hat-trick in his side’s 6-2 Ridgeons League Premier Division victory at Newmarket Town yesterday. Dagenham and Redbridge, Leyton Orient and Southend have all previously checked out the 21-year-old, who has now scored 41 league goals this season.
Last Saturday, Daggers boss John Still was joined by his chief scout Mick Loughton to run the rule over Mann as he scored in a 2-1 home defeat to Great Yarmouth Town and he is set to train with the League One club this week.
Mann, who scored 44 goals in Brantham’s Ridgeons League First Division promotion season last year, missed the first nine games of this campaign through illness and injury but has ended it only one goal away from breaking the Ridgeons League Premier Division goals record of 42.
The Lawford-based builder has a year left on his Brantham contract with the Imps understood to have put a £20,000 price on his head.
Veteran former Town, Norwich and Colchester coach Steve Foley is a regular at what is one of his local clubs, but no longer has any connection with the Blues.
Meanwhile, Town will be represented at today’s Anderlecht-Club Brugge game, according to reports in Belgium. Everton, Sunderland, Rennes, Bordeaux, Galatasaray, Hannover, Freiburg, West Brom, Wolfsburg, De Graafschap, FC Eindhoven, Le Mans, MVV Maastricht, Standard Liege, Genk and Lokeren are all also said to be sending scouts.
Elsewhere, Town Player of the Year Jimmy Bullard is a guest on Goals on Sunday on Sky Sports One/HD1 at 11am this morning.

..... natural goalscorers will score goals given correct service - forget this nonsense of 'can they do it at this or that level'. If the ability is there - it's there. Born and Coached - and certainly not necessarily made.

Not taking anything away from the lad. To score 41 goals in the league in a season is a great achievement. I used to play in it when it was the Jewson league and knew some Histon players who played in the Jewson League and still played when they were in the conference, so no doubt that there are players who could play at a higher level and he may well be one of them, just doubt it is the championship. Just my opinion and thats what message boards are for. No problem giving him a trial..... you never know! But Ridgeons football is really not that removed from sunday park football i'm afraid. By the way, thought the lad playing with him up front had a great game! Would like to know how many of Ollie's he's set up!

Have seen this lad play, "a lot" anybody that has played football at any decent level would know Ollie has got everything he needs to make it as a league player. Great attitude, bags of ability, he even looks a little like Connor Wickham...... sign him, he will do miles better than Scotland, if you've got it, you've got it, if you hav'nt your making up the numbers.......... Tortoise, maybe your username sums your playing days up !!!! dont be bitter, quality always shines in any league you play in. This time next year he could be a millionaire............

Got to Remember Simon Milton he came to Ipswich from Bury Town for £5000 in 1987 and he was a good player for Town, so this Lad might be worth a Gamble on.

tortoise are you mental there is a huge differennce between rigdeons league and Sunday league. on a Sunday most players turn up with a hangover and some can't even kick a ball, also I think there's a few more undiscoverd talents about in non league
tractorboy2434 added 20:49 - May 2
He is on his way to Dagenham or Leyton Orient according to non league circles, we are just too slow to snap up anyone worth a punt.

If you can kick a ball, trap a ball, are fit and always turn up to training, you've got a good chance of getting a contract at a lower ridgeons club. There are plenty of players easily good enough to play in it who only play in the lower saturday leagues or on a sunday..... the only main difference is they're quite happy to turn up with a hangover and don't want to train! That said there are some good young players in it too, young lad went from Newmarket to Brentford a few years ago. Not sure anyone's really gone any higher though??
