Colchester, Southend and Cambridge Friendlies Confirmed
Tuesday, 3rd May 2011 17:34

Town have confirmed pre-season friendlies at Colchester, Southend and Cambridge United over the summer. The club have already announced a trip to Holland and games at Bury and Needham Market.

A Town XI will travel to Blue Square Bet Premier side Cambridge on Tuesday 19th July (KO 7.45pm), then the Blues will be at Roots Hall to take on Southend on Friday 22nd July (KO 7.45pm). Last season a proposed fixture against the Shrimpers was called off at late notice due to their lack of players.

Town will subsequently visit Colchester’s Weston Homes Community Stadium for a game on Tuesday 26th July (KO 7.45pm).

Good news, especially the match at Colchester. I hope we'll have our new signings in place by then rather than replying on August panic buys like in previous years. Rumour has it that some deals may have already been agreed...

Great to see that we're trying again at Southend this year, nice and close!

Blimey, pre-season dates announced already. It's almost as if we have someone in charge that knows what they are doing, what they are trying to acheive, and what they need to be doing to acheive it. Makes a nice change

why not arrange a 'friendly' with Premiership Norwich City?

It could be like 'our cup final'

Crikey Bluemania, there aren't many Town fans who can get to Portman Road but don't live within 30 minutes of either Cambridge, Colchester or Southend!

Blue mania - probably down to costs of putting a game on I imagine. Makes sense to let the other team host us and as they are lower league teams the cost would probs be lower and gates higher, gives them a bit of a payday whilst saving us money.

Seven friendlies announced already and not at the last minute, would appear we mean business next year - long may it continue. It would be nice to announce the new players with the same speed [ I know it isn't possible though - or is it ? ]

Nice to see this year we are organised and ready for the new season. Our plan is in place to get our fitness up ahead of the new season !!

Play - offs next season, providing we invest well in the market and bed some of our youngsters through !! COYB !
