Bullard Move Back On?
Bullard Move Back On?
Sunday, 3rd Jul 2011 10:11

Town’s attempt to sign former loanee Jimmy Bullard on a permanent basis could be back on, according to a tabloid report this morning. Manager Paul Jewell previously said that a deal to bring last season’s Player of the Year back from Hull was beyond the Blues but, as predicted by TWTD on Thursday, the large fee received for Connor Wickham may have changed that situation.

Bullard’s future is still understood to be up in the air with the 32-year-old having held talks with QPR earlier this summer but with no deal yet done.

The former Wigan, Peterborough and Fulham man was recently reported to be in talks with Hull regarding a settlement of the remaining two years of his £45,000-a-week contract which makes up 21% of the Tigers’ wage bill.

Hull are desperate to see the one-time England call-up leave on a permanent basis and so far have been unwilling to sanction another loan.

Speaking in mid-June, prior to agreeing the £8.1 million rising to £12 million fee for Connor Wickham with Sunderland, Blues boss Jewell said: “We just can’t afford to pay what Hull want and what Jimmy wants. He’s not just on a Premier League contract, he’s on a top Premier League contract.”

Bullard made 16 appearances for Town, scoring five goals, during a hugely successful loan spell between January and May.

Does not do that anymore. Lets not over rate him. Koumas would be better, a player i rate, without the injury trouble.

A lot of speculation is inevitable with the money we have inherited recently, I would be happy with both Bowyer and Bullard, but only if their salaries fell in line with the other members of the squad otherwise you get disharmony in the camp. both would be good assets though. Certainly going to be an interesting next few weeks, loving it!

Paul Jewell has stated that he will be careful with " the Conner Cash ". Hope , therefore, that any thoughts of getting Bullard back at the club has to be completely unacceptable !! Hull are desperate to get rid of Bullard ---- ASK YOURSELF WHY ??? ---- it would seem disloyal to spend so called " Conner Cash " on this player. He helped us last season, in the short term , but considering him now for a permanent move is absolutely suicidal !!!! Please please please NO !!!Instead we would be wise to get hold of Koumas ----- sound player. Haroun sounds a useful player too. Bowyer would do a great job ----- lets go for all three. Feel sure they would make the right kind of difference !!!!

Think it would be great to get Jimmy back in! Him partnered with Bowyer would really give something to the team!

as good as JB was for Town during his loan spell . I would hate to think we would "blow" a large proportion of the Wickham fee on a player that is injury prone , and despite his claims.... that "it isnt all about money," has made no effort to drop his wage demands to facilitate a move to another club!

You are certainly not in a minority of one carsey. Count me in defo and reading the comments on here the ranks are swelling.
I assume also you were not one of the idiots who voted him our player of the season, on 20 odd appearances...please.
Ill say it again, he will go where the money is and I truly hope PJ is not silly enough to offer the world for this dodgy kneed has been.

Bullard was the best player at Portman road by a country mile at the end of last season.

That is all that needs to be said on the matter.

I can't understand why some of the fans on here don't want Jimmy back?

He had such a postiive impact at the end of last season and actually gave us something to smile about in what was on the whole a dismal season.

For all those out there that are grumbling abut his wages and saying he is a money grabber, he is 32 not many season left and then it is retirement. Depending on what he does he will have 30+ years till proper retirement age and so for his family he would want the best deal. Wouldn't you? So come on leave that argument alone.

In football transfers there is so much palyers, agents and all the other people involved it's a sensitve subject and must be handled proffessionally.

Bring him back and lets have something to cheer about. When he is scoring free kicks a plenty and we are on our way back to the promised land, all you negative nit-wits will also be screaming his name.

Come on you blues :-)
