New Town defender Ívar Ingimarsson says he joined the Blues after being released by Reading because of the club’s ambition. The Icelander, who agreed a one-year deal last month, says he hopes he can be part of something special at Portman Road.

The 34-year-old said: "This is a new challenge for me and I'm looking forward to it. I'm at the later part of my career now and it was important that I joined a club that has ambition and the quality to achieve something.

"There are opportunities here for that to happen. It's a very tough league to get out of, one of the toughest in the world, but hopefully I can be part of something special here. That is why I came to Ipswich."
