Wabara Now Set to Sign on Friday
Wabara Now Set to Sign on Friday
Thursday, 29th Sep 2011 18:07

Manchester City youngster Reece Wabara is now expected to complete his loan move to the Blues on Friday morning. Earlier today Town boss Paul Jewell confirmed that the Blues were close to confirming the addition of the 19-year-old on a 93-day loan.

Wabara, who tweeted that he was with his family in Bromsgrove earlier this afternoon [and late this evening has said he has arrived at his "destination"], is set to be signed in time to be in consideration for Saturday’s home game against Brighton, although appears unlikely to start as he will at best only have limited time training with his new team-mates.

The England U20 international was first linked with Town earlier in the week when Reading, Millwall and Blackpool were also reported to be interested.

Wabara joined City from Walsall as a youngster and signed a new three-year professional deal earlier in the year.

City are allowing the highly-rated Midlander to move on for the short-term spell to get games under his belt with his first team experience so far only one sub appearance on the final day of last season.

Wabara comes from a sporting family with ex- Liverpool winger Mark Walters and heavyweight boxer Pele Reid his father Martin’s half-brothers. His grandfather, Lawrence Wabara, was an international footballer with Nigeria in the 1950s.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jimmy Bullard says he's enjoying his role at the deepest point of the Blues' midfield diamond and is getting fitter with every game: “I’m feeling a lot better, I feel I can get around the pitch a lot more.

"My role is sitting in front of the back four, getting on the ball as much as possible and trying to break up play.

"It means I don’t get as much license to get forward as I would like — I don’t get past the halfway line these days — but that’s my job.”

The 32-year-old says Town's two-man strike force of Jason Scotland and Michael Chopra has been a factor in Town's upturn in form: “The two up front helps us get out a bit easier.

"They have been great up front. Jason is a big, strong boy who holds the ball up well and helps us get up the pitch. He seems to have confidence and long may it continue."

Ahhh an attempt to get the average age down!

We are doing what keane never did, get top young, and older like collins, andrews etc, talent to the club on loan. In the face competition of other decent clubs. Who said nobody wants to come here? This shows the difference between jewell and keane.

Carlos will soon be in bed by 8.30 pm like the rest of the squad and we shall see the symmetry of the Cresswell/ Carlos approach.
He will be essential in this promotion year

i think that keane didnt get the support that maybe pj did and clegg and me realised that after they got rid of keane that the next manager needed to get exactly what he wanted look at the players pj has brought in! must of cost loads of money in wages and fees but hey i said all along we got part with loads of cash to get out of this krapy leauge! its not as if we cant afford it

Keane signed 25 players, spent nearly £11M on transfer fees and goodness knows how much on wages so I think he had very good support. Jewell has brought in players on big wages but spent only £3.5M on fees let's remember.

I know some fans disagree with our loan policy but I think PJ is really making the loan system work for us. All the players he has brought in on loan (maybe with exception of Murphy) so far have done really well and all of them are hungry with a point to prove.

Big Sam when he was at Bolton did a similar thing, getting loan players in (Djorkaeff, Okocha and Bobic) and it gave them a foothold to go forward and it was to our cost at the time.

Carlos has been superb in the last three matches, if this lad signs as expected then PJ may push Edwards forward on the right hand side.

Surely though ClassyCranson that will only happen if our diamond formation gets found out and we have to switch to a proper 442 and use proper wingers?

Why are people worried about loan signings? If they get us promoted then who gives a ****? Every other club does it...premiership players playing in the championship, makes sense no?
