Jewell: No Healy Grudge Friday, 25th Nov 2011 08:24
Town manager Paul Jewell insisted that had no grudge against midfielder Colin Healy, whose contract with the Blues was terminated by mutual consent on Thursday. Healy made his anger at his 27th minute substitution in the 3-2 defeat to Doncaster known to the Blues boss in the days after the match.
Jewell said: “We’re big boys, things happen in life we don’t like. We have disagreements and arguments but there’s no point in holding grudges.
“I didn’t see Tamás [Priskin on Wednesday] because it was his agent I dealt with but I have no problem with Tamás and definitely no problem with Colin Healy.
“We had a disagreement over his substitution, I fully understood where he was coming from. Things were said in the heat of the moment that I think he regretted. We shook hands on it and we decided it was time for him to move on.
“I and everybody at the club wishes him well because he’s a really good guy and a decent player but it just hasn’t happened for him here. It didn’t happen under Roy and it hasn’t happened under me. Sometimes you have to cut your losses and move on in life.”
The Town manager admits that he could understand the player’s frustration: “Colin was unfortunate really. He played against Doncaster and I brought him off after about 25 minutes, which was pretty embarrassing for Colin, and for me really.
“Nobody likes to see that, especially to someone who is such a good character as Colin. We had a chat on the Monday, he wasn’t very happy and we sat down and thrashed out a deal [and decided] that it was probably best if he cut his losses here and moved on. We wish him all the best.”

I thought he was decent back up and £70k well spent. Good luck Colin.

The important thing was splashing the cash and helping a tin-pot Irish side stay afloat for a wee while longer. Fantastic value for money

What a load of bo**ocks! Jewell didn't like being criticised and got shot of him.

He owned Fabregas in the Carling Cup 1st leg. Shame he wasn't given a better chance along with others by PJ!

So the scapegoats deemed responsible for the Doncaster debacle have been tried, judged and dealt with. PJ seemingly has decided to get rid of them although he definitely has no problem with them. That's all right then. We can move on.

Further proof that Jewell's management skills (or lack of them) are losing the dressing room. Fair play to Colin Healy and good luck to him in the future. He was treated very poorly here by Keane and Jewell..A good honest hardworking professional ripping up a contract is usually the sign of a club that is losing the plot...Oh wait....

Not really a player who has the ability to get the club promoted or even the Play-Offs....just an average Championship player like a lot of the squad. Still hoping that PJ sorts it out

Wish Colin all the best, he might not have been our most gifted player but he tried a lot harder than most. Personally I think PJ was out of order targeting him in the Doncaster game - for the first half our entire team was shocking. If you are trying to send a message why not aim your anger at some-one who thinks they have a right to be in the team rather than some-one who has worked really hard at making it back into the first team?

Considering colin really wasn't ever that good for us (except for Arsenal, but even Delane played well against them) I think it's actually been dealt with pretty well. What else do you do with a player who won't sell, isn't good enough and isn't happy?

jewell still has a lot of deadwood from the keane era and its still too soon for him to put his mark down on the team. unfortunately for us keane got rid of good players like rhodes trotter clarke and replaced them with clearly over priced barely average players priskin for one and now we rely to much on loan players who may or may not perform. colin was unfortunate and giving a chance could at least put in a shift for us when players were underperforming. i do believe jewell is trying to get a mixture of young and experienced but players but it hasnt worked out for him this year. bring through the talent why let murray go on loan give him game time this year to be ready for next season. cos we aint going anywhere this season any way. p.s buy some badly needed defenders and an actual number one in january
