Swansea Set to Move for Andrews
Swansea Set to Move for Andrews
Monday, 12th Dec 2011 11:12

On-loan midfielder Keith Andrews is reportedly set to join Swansea City from Blackburn Rovers once his spell at Portman Road comes to an end in January. The Swans are claimed to be willing to pay £2 million for the 31-year-old, who has scored eight goals for the Blues since joining on a temporary basis in August, although other reports suggest no fee will be involved.

Swansea and fellow Premier League side Wigan have both been linked with the Republic of Ireland international for some months, while Blues boss Paul Jewell has also made it clear he would like to keep Andrews, who has been standing in as skipper during Grant Leadbitter’s absence.

The Dubliner joined Blackburn from the MK Dons for £1.3 million in August 2008 and the League One side are entitled to 10% of the profit when the one-time Wolves and Hull City man is sold.

Meanwhile, defender Danny Collins, who returns to Stoke after Saturday’s home game with Derby, is again being linked with a switch to Wolves when the transfer window opens in January.

As with Andrews, Jewell would like to keep him at Portman Road but the Blues are unlikely to be able to compete with Premier League clubs in terms of wages and the transfer fee.

Collins, who like Andrews has 18 months remaining of his current contract, has admitted he faces a big decision when his 93-day loan comes to an end after the weekend.

If we can't get Keith get trotter back here or buy Gio ;) or livermore :) as for Danny colins I think if you don't buy him your going to need someone decent to replace him because he has jelled with the team and we need another center half anyway ...

Getting Trotter back sounds a good idea but he has no reason to return. That's where we are now.

Our best player this season (although that's not hard to achieve). I have a suspicion that Swansea will be outbid by Norwich.

You can't build lasting success with 'journeymen', if Jewell thinks it will take time to get the squad he needs, he needs to be looking at permanent or at least season long loans to get a settled squad. As it seems now it's all going to be thrown back up in air again this month and next. Saturday's result was a fluke and sadly I can see my beloved Town in a relegation battle this season.

whilst andrews goals have done us many a favour i still feel we need a far more combative midfielder. andrews does seem to run around a lot without really providing a lot apart from these goals, and personally i feel we could do with a nasty ball winner which we've been missing for years.
i think andrews can be replaced, collins on the other hand is a different matter. god knows how bad our defensive record would be without him. without him ill worry
