Magilton's Victory Appointment Confirmed
Magilton's Victory Appointment Confirmed
Saturday, 7th Jan 2012 08:01

Former Blues boss Jim Magilton has been confirmed as the new manager of Australian A-League side Melbourne Victory, agreeing a three-month contract which takes him to the end of their season.

Magilton says he only heard about the possibility on Thursday: "It all happened pretty quickly. I got a phone call, the opportunity arose and I snapped it up."

The 42-year-old described his approach to management: "I am fearless, I am meticulous, I am astute, I am very much hands on and I like to get amongst the players and be involved in the training aspect of the set-up. And I am a pretty amiable guy.

“But the immediate effect I can have on the team is confidence, morale in the dressing room and lift the confidence and morale of the supporters. That is something that I am easily equipped to do as it is in my nature."

All the best Jim, I hope this kick-starts his managerial career again.

To be honest I wish he was still at town. I was never one calling for his head. Given time I think he would have had us heading in the right direction. Jordan Rhodes and Brian Klug would still be here for a start!

the A league is a tougher than people think, there has been no easy games for the ex-european players who have come back, i would rate it slightly above championship to lower level premier league, didn't victory draw with chelsea a while back ?

Can he come back now and take over please; well done jim a true Ipswich legend and wore you heart on your sleeve. I dont think Jewell understands what the glory days were like at this once great club and does not have the same feeling for the place. If you are looking down on us SBR please have a word in MEs ear.

eric gates.... true that, we have pushed (well clegg and co have) away some real quality in terms of staff and players, since sheepshanks left. i want to make something real clear i like paul jewell as a guy and i really want him to succeed, but i dont think he is the man for the job, this is not me being negative, it is what i think is clearly obvious, he plays people out of position and has been here long enough to get some suitable personnel in( david wright asked for a return to portman road) the mind boggles on how jewell thinks at times. look what happened against blackpool, holloway makes changes late on in the game to rescue what looked an unlikely point for the first hour or so. how often does jewell make a substitution and turns the game in our favour? anyway i think most would agree with me if they were to take their blue coloured spectacles off. incidentally i would love to be proved wrong, i really would and will gladly eat all humble pie that is put my way, in fact will be a pleasure, at the end of the day i am a town supporter and want to see us in a healthy league position, it upsets me when i see what is going on at the moment...coyb
