Reading Keeper Loan Deal Reportedly Done
Reading Keeper Loan Deal Reportedly Done
Sunday, 8th Jan 2012 19:24

Town are reported to have completed the signing of Reading keeper Alex McCarthy on loan until the end of the season. News of the Blues’ interest in the 22-year-old first broke last night.

Manager Paul Jewell has previously said that the Blues are keen on signing an additional glovesman to compete with Arran Lee-Barrett and Richard Wright, former loanee David Stockdale having been recalled by Fulham last month.

Guildford-born 6ft 4in-tall England U21 cap McCarthy came through the Royals’ youth system and has had prior loan spells at Woking, Cambridge United, Team Bath, Aldershot Town, Yeovil Town and Brentford in addition to a six-game spell at Leeds in November and December last year.

Elsewhere, Doncaster have confirmed they've accepted a bid from Leicester for one-time Town target Billy Sharp.

... PJ also said in the week that he made a mistake relying on loans - so why has he signed another loanee? How on earth is this building for the future? Back to square one in the Summer re keepers. Shambolic management from an abysmal manager. PJ OUT.

Its not gonna be a popular suggestion with most town fans but lets get Warnock in before its too late.
Only problem may be if he hangs out to negoiate a pay off from QPR.

ME should be on the phone to Warnock now if he's got any sense!

I agree with the above comments about it being ANOTHER loan. I hope it is with a with a view to a permanent move. Has a fee been agreed? Has he agreed to move here permanently if it works out? Otherwise if he does well here we probably won't be able to sign him and it could all be a waste of time.

A question for Evans and Clegg: has Jewell really got money to spend this January, or is he forced to look at loans and frees? I do not understand why he would borrow players if he could afford to buy them!

In fairness to jewel, no-one complained at the signings of Bullard, chopra and jet. The most shocking thing was the neglect of our defence. At the moment we have a second rate and past it set of goalies, 3 terrible centre backs (sonko can only head it, he's hopeless with the ball) and no right back. It's unbelievable this has happened! This may be a loan, but it's a step in the right direction. If the defence isn't sorted I think we'll go down.

Agree Warnock is the man to get us out of the mire. An unusual and irritating man who has a habit of getting teams promoted. Get the clown out and start re building now or the season ticket sales will plumitt

He's certainly tall, just hope he can get down well as he is going to a busy man with our current back four in front of him!

Don't know much about the fella but best of luck! as for Warnock I'd say no, people automatically think if your in the Championship then he's the man to get you up (as by his track record) but personally would want a younger manager, a drop down a league again might be one step too far for him now at his age - just a hunch, he won't keep doing it.
