Andrews Could Stay with Blackburn
Andrews Could Stay with Blackburn

Blackburn manager Steve Kean has confirmed that former Blues loanee could come back into his plans at Ewood Park, as reported by TWTD last week. However, Kean says there is plenty of interest in the Irish international, who Town boss Paul Jewell wants back at Portman Road, with Premier League clubs including Wigan believed to be in the chase for the 31-year-old.

Kean said: “Keith is now in dialogue with the club, on Wednesday he was in dialogue with the directors. I think there’ll be interest from other places for Keith.

“He’s gone away and had a good loan spell but he’s still got 18 months on his contract here. If nothing happens then he’s still under contract.

“The fact he’s been out, played well, scored goals — and before that done well in internationals, he’ll be a part of things for us moving forward — if he doesn’t move.

“I don’t know if we will be asking for a fee for him. I pass that on to the directors to negotiate the exit or the purchase. I’ve got other things on my plate at the moment.”

Meanwhile, former Blue Danny Haynes has rejoined Charlton from Barnsley. Haynes was with the Addicks prior to moving to Town's Academy.

Elsewhere, ex-Blue Richard Naylor, 34, has signed for Rotherham until the end of the season after leaving Doncaster.

We've got to move away from massive wage earning 31-year-olds, but having said that we are missing Andrews' goals at the moment and given our perilous league position that is a worry. The defence has to be the priority though with two centre backs, a right back, and a defensive midfielder all needed. I get a horrible feeling that we will not be buying any players though.

No surprise. Andrews was a good LOAN signing, but this is a classic example why we can not rely on loans - because they go back! Hopefully PJ and Clegg have learnt their lessons, but judging by the transfer window so far it would sadly seem that they haven't. Shame.

Best wishes to Andrews.

Get him back asap. Offer a 2 year contract. He might be getting on a bit, but if it wasn't for Keith we'd most definately be in bottom 3 at the moment. Really think we missed that bit of class against Brum on wednesday. COYB

Andrews is a prime example where a loan has worked for all 3 parties.

For Blackburn, they have a match fit player back at the club that could now command a fee.

For Ipswich, they had a player who got the vital goals and certainly made a big difference to us.

Finally to the player, he has revitalised his international hopes for the summer and reminded clubs that Keith Andrews is a commodity again.

The only issue is that as he did well with us, his salary demands may well be out of our reach and within other premiership teams scales.
