Murphy Back for Blues at Leeds
Murphy Back for Blues at Leeds
Saturday, 21st Jan 2012 14:37

Daryl Murphy replacing Josh Carson is Town’s only change for this afternoon’s game against Leeds at Portman Road. The Northern Irish youngster came off with a hamstring injury late in last week’s 2-2 draw with Blackpool.

Carson made the trip as part of an 18 man squad but sits out along with Jack Ainsley with skipper Grant Leadbitter back on the bench.

Leeds make three changes from last week’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, Fabian Delph, Mikael Forssell and Robert Snodgrass replacing Luciano Becchio, Aidan White and Michael Brown.

Full match preview here.

Town: McCarthy, Edwards, Sonko, Smith, Cresswell, Martin, Hyam, Drury, Murphy, Emmanuel-Thomas, Scotland. Subs: Lee-Barrett, Delaney, Leadbitter, Bullard, Chopra.

Leeds United: Lonergan, Thompson, Lees, O'Dea, Pugh, Snodgrass, Clayton, Delph, Townsend, Forssell, McCormack. Subs: M Taylor, Bruce, Brown, Becchio, White.

Shiocked that Carson is not even on the bench, but can understand why Murphy is starting. If I was ALB I think that I would ask to leave or go out on loan as PJ just doesn't have faith in him as he always seems to be made the scapegoat.Still with Leadboots Bullard and Chopra prefered to Carson can't see him signing a new dea .lso we lose another youngster,Just what is plan B if things are not going well bring on Leadboots, Bullard and Chopra on and we lose another match.

why will they make mince meat out of it? Just because Smith is in there? Sick of all the moaning fans, our team is what it is, get behind them for god's sake.

If carson is injured no point risking him. Think we have a chance. Strong bench. Cmon town.

Disagree with McCarthy starting, Phillip's goal last week was his fault, shouldnt be beaten at the near post so easily. PLUS hes on-loan, ALB all the way..

Vic can't see in the report that Carson is carryiing an injury it just says he was taken off with a hamstring last weekand PJ said this week only Bowyer was injured and would miss out.

He is still injured. When will some of you stop believing everything you read in the newspapers. PJ isn't going to announce he is injured and isn't going to play until he has to. Doesn't want to give the opposition too much info ahead of kickoff

If Carson is injured, why did he travel as part of the 18-man party? Seems odd this. However, let's hope Murphy does a great job this afternoon and ITFC pick up their first win of 2012! COYB's.

Vic so why was he in the 18 that travelled then? ALB is better than McCarthey as he was a fault for both goals last week

stu_ward27 added 15:47 - Jan 21
why of all of you so against McCarthy?
ALB has had more bad games than good games for this club and McCarthy has only just joined so at least give him MORE than two games to prove himself!
anyway 1-0! COYB!

Beattie says, at half-time they are playing very very well. I'll take that as fact. COYB let's keep it going in the 2nd half

Carson is part of the 18 so that he is still involved with the 1st Team, That way he will still see he is part of the team so he will have a future at the club
