Klug Opts Against Town Return
Klug Opts Against Town Return
Sunday, 4th Mar 2012 22:30

TWTD understands that former Town coach Bryan Klug has opted against a return to Portman Road. The 51-year-old, who is currently the assistant director and head of player development at Tottenham’s Academy, had been sounded out about rejoining Town’s youth set-up.

Klug, who was controversially axed by former boss Roy Keane in January 2010, is understood to have been at the club in recent weeks but has decided not to come back to Town, where he spent 23 years in various coaching roles, having previously come through the youth ranks as a player.

Speaking to TWTD last week, chief executive Simon Clegg refused to confirm or deny the Blues’ interest in Klug: “My expectation is that there will be additional staff required for our Academy next season based upon the structure that we’ve put in place, but it would be wrong for me to speculate on any individual.”

Question is, if Klug only left/ was ousted out because of Keano, then why wouldnt he come back now he's gone? If he's that loyal/ dedicated to the club then surely he'd want to come back now - or is there more to this?

It's only an impression I've got from talking to parents of academy and youth players and some staff at Playford rd, but I don't think our academy set up and run like it used to be! There appears to be quite a bit of unrest! Perhaps that played a part in his decision?!?!

A real big shame in my opinion but was he told what Category we are opting for? Keano did this club irreparable harm. COYB

Worth a shot and pleased to see we tried.

However, the "something else to this story" is most likely to be the fact that Klug already has a senior position at a Premiership outfit and the move would mean returning to an old job - always a tricky decision. In the real world these are always likely to trump any previous club loyalty he may have.

Funny isnt it. Only a couple of years ago people referered to our management duo as Dim Magilton & Bryan 'hasnt got a' Klug.

Now everyone is gutted he isnt coming back. . . . . .

Lets all move on with our lives.

NSL: We didn't ALL refer to Jimbo and Klug in that way! Great pity that Klug doesn't want to return, but understandable. He's moved on and that's what we also have to do.
