Jewell: Fully Fit Squad for Peterborough
Jewell: Fully Fit Squad for Peterborough
Thursday, 15th Mar 2012 14:02

Town boss Paul Jewell has a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of Saturday’s home game against Peterborough United. Midfielder Grant Leadbitter is back in training after suffering a groin injury having scored both Blues goals in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Hull City.

Jewell said: “Grant trained this morning. He came off on Saturday, which is quite worrying because Grant doesn’t come off for no reason.

“He had a scan on Sunday and it didn’t show a tear, so he’s improved rapidly, he’s been training this morning and we’ve got a fully fit squad.”

One player who won’t be involved against Posh — although may be when Burnley are at Portman Road on Wednesday — is Jimmy Bullard, whose club-imposed suspension ends on Friday.

Jewell said: “Jimmy won’t be in contention for Saturday. He comes back into the fold tomorrow and he’ll have a fitness test to see where he is.

“I know from old that Jimmy’s as fit as a flea, he never puts any weight on, so that won’t be a problem. He’s a very fit lad.

“He’s not going to be match fit, obviously, but I know Jimmy and he’ll be really excited about coming in tomorrow.”

Really fancy us for another convincing victory Saturday. Home performances have been really impressive of late and would be great to go the rest of the season without losing at PR and then carry that into next season.
Ipswich 3-0 Peterborough
Chopra- (18 & 56)
Martin- (72)

Always good to be specific!

If JB is fit as a flea, why test him?

Unless of course he's spent the last two weeks in the pub watching SSN!

This might be the reality check that Jimmy needed. If he can come back hungry like he was when we signed him on loan last year then he could provide us with something very useful for the rest of the season. I'd like to think this has given him the wake up call that results in him playing his heart out for us for the rest of his contract and end his career here as a Pablo like legend however I fear he may continue his recent disappointing form.

As far as Leadbitter goes, I don't particularly like him as a footballer and I think he isn't good enough for us and with the financial fair play I would rather let him go and get in a more hungry forward thinking player. However he has played well recently and if he can maintain these standards and maybe start passing forward once in a while the Im willing to give him one more year.

My estimates say we need another 29 points from the 33 to make the play-offs....
What are the odds of an unbeaten end to the season?

This is the game that Ipswich have to go into with the mentality of tearing them to f*cking piece's. I don't think Jewell has forgotten that away game by any stretch, I'd even go to say possibly his lowest point as a manager with derby taken into account... I think we will see Ipswich stamp them out like cockroaches!!

4-0

If I was PJ, I would Pin that scoreline up in the dressing room before KO to get the lads revved up. Let's smash 'em.. COYB!!

Anything is possible although I would suggest playoffs are highly improbable. Ipswich to shade it 5-1. COYB

Loving these comments on here today really positve stuff good to read and funny...
I said before this season began that the two most important matches (for me anyway) are West Ham and Peterbrough...were half way done.....I dont like to use a word like hate as thats negative but something very close to that is what I feel for Peterbrough... Ipswich Town this is your moment show these pretenders to our throne just who is the boss in our Relm they really do bleivie that they are a bigger and better club than Ipswich can you believe that ...!!!

For weeks in our home just before we all say goodnight like the Waltons ....I always say and please God let us win against Peterbrough!!! Score Predictions: 3-1 Town.....COYB

Story on BBC web site about Jewell feels it will be hard to hold on to Leadbitter next season

Just read on BBC news that jewell says he is resigned to losing leadboots at end of season.

Surely we should be building for next season and for me hyam has to play for that reason. We do have more energy in the side with him and drury.

Come on town, 4-0 prediction.

Good. So no need to play a loanee keeper or players who are likely to move on in the Summer. Expect to see Hyam play and also Carson on at least the bench. Sounds like Leadbitter is off, so pointless playing him.
