Portsmouth administrator Trevor Birch says Joel Ward is yet to make up his mind where he will be playing his football next season but expects a decision by Wednesday. The Blues, Leeds, Blackpool, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday have all targeted Pompey’s versatile 22-year-old defender or midfielder.

Birch said: “We are still waiting for news on that situation — there has been no further movement.

“Obviously I cannot be certain when it will go through but I would have thought it could be around the middle of this week.

"It has taken time. We have all been waiting on this one, hopefully it can go through soon.”

The interested parties are understood to have agreed a fee of around £450,000 with the administrator.

Unconfirmed rumours yesterday claimed Town were winning the race for the one-time Bournemouth loanee.

I have a sneeking feeling Palace will run away with him, as RIPbobby says

What's irritating, is having this carrot dangled in front of us for 6 months when he's certain to go elsewhere.

Latest news: deal now not expected to be done this week. Middle of next week instead. (Maybe!)

Ward WILL be signing for Leeds this week. I have this from a very very very good source.

If he does not want to play for us, then it would be better if he didn't I think.

If this farce carries on much longer, the obnoxious Simon Cowell will make a reality show out of it, with viewers texting in each week voting clubs off until only one club is left in for him! I think its probably down to his agent rather than the lad himself but I think it would be quite funny if all the clubs pulled out of the race for him and Pompey had to make him redundant.
When he eventually makes his decision, if he chooses ITFC he will have a lot to prove to show that he will give 100% for the club each day

Out of all those options, I have to agree that Palace is probably his preferred option!

So let me get this straight, all of you who are fed up with the Ward saga clicked on a story about the Ward saga instead of just ignoring it, so that you can complain about reading more about the Ward saga? You lot are just plain wierd.
