Jacobs Joins Derby Tuesday, 26th Jun 2012 09:08
Northampton winger Michael Jacobs has completed a move to Derby County after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee reported to be £450,000. The Blues, Newcastle, Peterborough, Watford, Bristol City and Charlton Athletic were all also believed to be chasing the 20-year-old, but the Rams always appeared to be the frontrunners.
Jacobs, who impressed for the Cobblers in their 2-1 Carling Cup defeat of Town at Portman Road last season, is out of contract this summer but the League Two side were entitled to compensation due to his youth with both clubs keen to avoid going to a tribunal. He has signed a three-year deal.
Elsewhere, the Blues continue to be linked with former loanee Ricardo Fuller, who we reported was the subject of Town enquiries a month ago. Fuller's Stoke contract was up this summer.
Town’s interest in the 32-year-old Jamaican is not an indication that fellow veteran Jason Scotland is moving on. As we reported on Friday, the Trinidadian is set to put pen to paper on his new one-year deal when he returns to the UK from Trinidad ahead of the start of pre-season training next Thursday. Like skipper Carlos Edwards's new terms, the contract will include the option for a further year.
Elsewhere, another former Town loan man, Argentinian Sixto Peralta, now 33, has joined Chilean side Universidad Católica from Romanian club CFR Cluj.

i dont think it matters if jewel keeps quiet about who hes after well probably lose them anyway,if any of these links are ture it bothers me why players are going to the likes of leeds , brighton, and derby and not us.we should have been knocking on doors as soon as the last ball was kicked, we are so far down the pecking order its hard to take, even barnsley are geting lads in. god help us come on mr jewell and clegg and evens save my club.......

Yeah I think fuller would be a good signing he's prob got 2 more good years left in him. Getting a centre is interesting QPR have 3 on the Market Fitz hall who's 31, Peter ramage is 28, Danny gabbindon 32 are any of these any good for ITFC!! I think bramble would fit the bill but wages will be a concern. A keeper must be out of loach & guzan surely!! Hurry up jewell haha

Why do we need both Fuller and Scotland? Both similar build and style of play. Surely we would be better off looking for a complementary type of front man someone with a bit of height or speed or preferably both. Has Ellington moved on yet...does anybody know?

Scotland 5"8", Fuller 6"3. There's the height you want?

When I heard about the link with Fuller I was thinking oh sh!t. But I have come round to the idea that he could do very well at championship level and for us. If we proceed it will be another gamble from PJ and one that he has to pull off. He would be ideal as a target man and holding the ball up for Chops and Martin banging the goals in for us. Let's hope we sign someone this week.

No firm evidence we ever made a bid for him, if we had bid and been accepted, offered contract then I wouldn't be happy at losing him. However I feel this was more of a rumour than anything else.

Sixto is 33. Same age as Pirlo. Could have done a job for us controlling the play in the centre of the park
