Loach to Sign on Thursday
Loach to Sign on Thursday
Wednesday, 18th Jul 2012 21:08

TWTD understands that Scott Loach will sign for the Blues tomorrow. The 24-year-old Watford keeper has been at Portman Road this evening to undergo a medical and will complete a £150,000 switch from the Hornets on Thursday.

A deal is all but agreed and the former England U21 international appears certain to become Town's new number one, despite reported interest from Blackburn.

Loach is unlikely to join up with the Blues squad in Holland for tomorrow’s match against Den Bosch but will be a Town player well in time for their UK-based friendlies.

The Nottingham-born keeper, who we reported was the subject of a Town enquiry in late June, was previously with the Blues’ academy between 1997 and 2000 before his family relocated back to his home town. Town's other senior keeper Arran Lee-Barrett would also have been at the academy at the same time.

Loach had previously been linked with Town on a number of occasions during the close season, having said it would be “a dream to play” for his boyhood club one day last summer.

The 6ft 4in tall keeper established himself as Watford’s number one during 2008/09 but after a drop in form fell out of favour at Vicarage Road last season with Manchester United’s Tomasz Kuszczak — Town’s number one keeper target until he joined Brighton - coming in on loan.

In addition to his spells as a youngster with the Blues — where he will have worked with current keeper-coach Malcolm Webster and returning academy director Bryan Klug - and Nottingham Forest, Loach was also with Southwell United and Lincoln City's youth set-ups, spending time on loan with the likes of Bourne Town, Radcliffe Olympic, Boston Town, Spalding United, Stamford, Lincoln United, Gedling Miners Welfare and Grantham Town while with the Imps, who will receive 15% of the fee the Blues are paying the Hornets.

In April 2006, Loach moved on to Watford, Lincoln receiving £50,000 in compensation. Prior to breaking into the first team at Vicarage Road he went on further loan spells at Stafford Rangers, Morecambe and Bradford City.

Loach can be seen in action for Town’s academy in this short film.

Absolute steal at that price, there's some great negotiation having gone on here. Congrats to all at the club who helped bring this about and welcome back Scott.

Never mind about h32- sometimes (but only sometimes) he comes out with something worth reading BUT wheres Daleyitfc's ugly mug and ridiculous comment.

Kerryblue, I really don't like it when so called fans come on here and slag off town heroes and former players. Richard Wright was, and still is, a true blue and one of the finest players from a raft of heroes under Burley. Show some respect, he was not rubbish he was England and Big club material who got some bad injuries and bad luck. If he came back here tomorrow as a coach or as player I would be delighted. I bet Scott Loach would be the first to call you out as a massive fcuking tsoser

h32 that's rather an arrogant infernal that anyone who doesn't have an opinion that agrees with you isn't telling the truth? Many of us have a glass half full approach to life, that doesnt mean you have to agree with all that we say, but your last note indicates that positive view points are lies! Maybe that isn't what you were implying, just pointing out how it reads. That said your previous post was upbeat and one I agree with ..... clearly we will never always agree on everything, what a dull world that would be! Welcome Scott loach, I know a friend of your family who has said for a long time your heart has always been with the Town, well yourloyalty is being repayed, let's hope your career hits the highs u are capable of!!

H32... to imply that you only say the truth is a load of Rubbish. The truth is you only ever state your opinion! An opinion not many agree with, by what i read on hear. The truth never alters, opinions alter when more facts become available.

The facts are, the positive signs havent just happened over night, these signs are the fruition of some very hard work by Clegg and Jewell.

And as for sarcasm, are you for real? only last week you "SARCASTICALLY" suggested some supporters were having orgasms over the signing of Luke Chambers.

The truth is your constant slamming of the club, has been at times way short of the truth...

The fantastic signing of scott is another positive step Forward for itfc...COYB

And i have also got on Cleggs Back. But there are different ways of Doing things, i had my say towards Clegg And to his Credit he phoned me to Discuss some of my gripes towards him and the club. And although my conversation with him remains there, i will say this. He is very hardworking and dedicated towards itfc.... The fruits we are now beginning to see....COYB

Great news, great business. Wonder if we will move for Kello as well, 3 first team keepers on the book would make a nice change! Davis to follow, would be another great addition.

Brilliant at 150k. Hopefully all goes smoothly tomorrow. Clegg seems to have pulled his finger out this season and learnt from his mistakes. The players are avaliable if you look hard enough. Looking forward to the season starting. I think if we can sign another decent striker then we have the potential to achieve this season. Well done Jewell and Clegg, and congrats Scott Loach, what a dream to play for your team!

Great signing. The jigsaw is near completion. Bargain price if figures are correct . Would like Kello or another Keeper, I think its important to have 3. Keogh in defence, should provide us with a good defender & $ decent centre halves. Will be interesting to see with will happen with the two french trialists. The guy on the left wing sounded tricky & exciting by match report. Maybe he is the ans to the left wing,or at the very least cover. Maybe sign murphs it the financial plan suits us. Then sign Davies. Maybe we could offer a little bit more to secure his signature seeing as we havent had a major layout this pre season. With those signings or players with similar ability & cost i would be confident of a very good season.

Wow! What a coup. We've signed mighty Watford's reserve keeper! We're going up!

Fingers crossed all goes through today and at last a number 1 keeper. We havent had one since Kelvin Davis.

He is still young and learning his trade and all humans may make a mistake but am sure he will make a huge difference to the defence as well. Spine of a team forming with a bit more physical presence. Would love us to sign Davies and Keogh.

And is wizardevos walberswick in disguise?! Why bother with such comments when a ball hasn't even been kicked.

Surely the price must be a compensation package for the over inflated price we paid for the last Watford player. Watford must of wanted 2 million but knocked off the rest for the money wasted on Priskin lol
