Stewart Could Be Back in Town Next Month Saturday, 21st Jul 2012 17:12
Town legend Marcus Stewart could be back at Portman Road next month having taken a job with another of his old clubs, Town’s Capital One Cup opponents Bristol Rovers.
Stewart, who played for the Pirates between 1991 and 1996, has been appointed development coach at the Memorial Stadium, where he will largely be working with players aged 18-21.
The 39-year-old had previously been coaching at Exeter, the final club of his playing career.

Bristol Rovers are at Portman Road for the Capital One Cup first round tie on Tuesday 14th August.
Town have set significantly lower ticket prices for the match, full details here.

Marcus Stewart - best ever striker & one subject which unites us all. Turned the game with a wonder goal v Bolton in the play-off semi. Pity that Huddersfield got their revenge by 'stealing' Jordan Rhodes

I'll never forget being sat at Bolton 2-0 down thinking we've blown it in the play offs again then he scored them two worldies and we drew 2-2! Memories to last a life time

@stewartwonderland With all due respect I thought Marcus Stewart was the best striker down here since Mariner & I was a big fan when he played for us. However, better than Mariner, really? Mariner played for England, Stewart never did. Stewart would have also played for longer at the top level if he hadn't been in the pub so much & maybe just maybe we would have stayed up if he hadn't had his jaw broken. Somewhere I can't help thinking the two are connected somehow.

Much as I regret it, I do think there is a remarkable symmetry in the signing of Jordon Rhodes by Huddersfield after what happened with Marcus Stewart. And Samassi Abou in the turned up collar - sheer class!

I remember when we played Exeter in the Carling Cup 1st round 2010, Marcus came on as sub in 2nd half & our fans gave him a better reception than the Home ones. Sign of an ITFC legend. Thanks for that playoff game vs Bolton too.
