Town Keeper's Charity Pledge
Town Keeper's Charity Pledge
Friday, 10th Aug 2012 12:21

Town keeper Scott Loach has pledged to donate 25% of his clean sheet bonus to charity this season. Heroes Children Fund, who help the children of those who have died in the line of duty, will benefit from the new Blues’ keeper’s shut-outs during 2012/13.

Heroes Children Fund chairman Lewis Scott said: “Everybody connected with the charity would like to send their huge thanks to Scott for his continued support of the charity and his extremely kind generosity of donating his bonus to the cause.”

Loach, 24, is an ambassador for the charity.

Good man.. but really, should there be such things as clean sheet bonuses?
With the current climate, and the financial fair play rules coming into play, would be a great time to get rid of these types of bonuses across the league along with agents payments, they're not necessary. I can't see a goalie trying 18% harder to keep a clean sheet if he's getting paid abit more, surely he never wants to concede, same as a striker always wants to score..

Back To Russia - 12 clean sheets last season. But don't let facts get in the way of a good little snipe.

Disagree Balham. I think performance related pay is the way forward. Especially with regards to appearences so people can't just sit on the bench taking cash a la Peters on a huge contract.

Balhamblue -

They have to have performance related bonuses, don't forget its a 'results industry' (copywright ever manager and player interviewed)

Its not enterainment any more.........

(I want our game back.... and our club)

PS. Not knocking the lad, decent gesture

Will be another reason to hate David Nugent when he inevitably scores against us in both Leicester fixtures!

Well done Scott as this is a really good gesture!

It's not something that we often hear of footballers and so is definitely to be applauded.

Here's to Scott having a great season and lets hope that there are lots of clean sheets ahead.

Great gesture, I'm sure there are a few others who do this sort of thing too, but wouldn't it be great if it was a bit more common place in a game overshadowed by silly money. Well done Scott top effort!

I am impressed by this. Usually we hear about footballers donating something like a shirt (which costs them nothing) or attending a charity event / visiting a charity - which also costs them nothing. Scott is actually dipping into his own pocket even though he is not on a huge wage for a footballer. On the other hand, perhaps others are doing this but I just haven't heard about it.
