N'Daw Passes Medical Thursday, 23rd Aug 2012 17:34 TWTD understands that St Etienne midfielder Guirane N’Daw passed his Blues medical earlier this afternoon. The 28-year-old Senegalese international is expected to complete a season-long loan move to Town on Friday.
As the 6ft 3in tall former Birmingham man’s switch is from an overseas club, international clearance is required which means the minutiae of the deal will take longer to complete than a domestic loan or transfer.
The Rufisque-born midfielder or centre-half, who is contracted to St Etienne until June 2013, began his career with Sochaux , with whom he won the 2007 Coupe de France.
He moved on to Nantes in 2008 before joining St Etienne initially on loan in 2009, a deal which became permanent the following summer for €4 million.
He spent the second half of 2010/11 on loan at Real Zaragoza in Spain before joining Birmingham on for the first half of the following campaign, the deal eventually being extended until the end of the season.
While with Birmingham he was absent with Senegal at the African Nations Cup for a time and sidelined with a hamstring problem, but still managed 25 starts and four sub appearances without scoring. He missed both games against Town.
Even if he signs in time, N’Daw won’t be involved at Blackpool on Saturday but depending on his fitness might join up with the squad for the Capital One Cup tie at Carlisle on Tuesday.

Just the type of player we need, someone who can be just a big unit in the middle of the park and break up the play, we've lacked one of these for some time!

Worth a punt just for a season. Every team can use this kind of player. He's an option to give us a more physical presence when needed.

I will be especially pleased when he signs as we have lacked a player with an apostrophe in their name for too long now!! I believe the last one was Mich D'Avray!!

Quality addition to the squad. I think we still need another striker? What if Chopra gets injured? Another 2 permanent signings would be a job well done, but concerned that Marcus Evans isn't giving PJ enough backing.

Amazing just how quickly we get these loan moves through, Birmingham were'nt interested in him after the loan last season so now we've grabbed him, how anybody can say they're excited or think it's a bad/good move when they don't know anything about him. After reading his CV over the last few years I would say he was a player who has already peaked, but if it adds strength in depth...

I know nothing of this guy but sounds like here's here to provide competition for places and options. This would fit in well with what Hutchinson had to say about wanting to play with different styles and formations. Still would be nice to get the permanent signings in board but can't have it all Always good to get a new lad in the door. Good luck and welcome!

Think he would be a good addition, as long as doesnt disrupt the team spirit at all, especially after Chops and Martins comments about short term contracts. But when was the last time we had an absolute unit to boss midfield? also good cover for CB
