Peterborough Duo Pass Medicals
Wednesday, 29th Aug 2012 18:11

TWTD understands that Peterborough duo Paul Taylor and George Boyd passed their Town medicals this afternoon as planned with discussions concerning their £2 million moves to Portman Road continuing.

The club are staying tightlipped regarding the situation but we understand that talks regarding personal terms are progressing but are not expected to be concluded tonight.

Meanwhile, Ryan Stevenson is continuing to talk to Motherwell regarding his permanent switch to the SPL club, but again that is now unlikely to be completed this evening.

The midfielder is understood to want to move on in order to play regular first team football.

Great news if Rhodes signs for Blackburn! Bit of cash in the bank and means he'll only have one game to score against us.

Looking promising!
Something to quickly make us forget about how poor this week has been so far.
We must play a formation with 2 up front if these sign surely?

We really need options to change things as we seem too predictable in our play, these players should give us that. Plus been a while since we had a true attacking midfielder with goals in him lets hope Boyd brings that to the table like the great John Wark

Good old 4-4-2 will hopefully take shape now... Little confused as to why a potential new LB is in the picture when Cressy is good enough. Please let's BUY a big CB and never concede from a corner again

Boyd - Good player, a welcome addition to the side.

Taylor - He can't be worth much considering his contract is up in a year and the transfer window is about to close. 5ft7in tall, scoring just 12 goals for Peterborugh and nothing really before that.

Stevenson - The right attitude, but just not good enough it seems. Will he be allowed to leave for free like so many others, or will we recoup the £50K fee?

Martin (my addition) - Has he signed yet? If not, can we sell him to raise case to buy some more players?!

I still worry we need a big, strong, dominating centre back.

@Mark - Don't think we should look to sell Martin! One of our better players IMO

I'm not going to recognize the team on Saturday at this rate.
Something needed to be done. fair play something has been done.
We will see if it works out in the next few games.

bennyitfc - I agree Martin is one of the best, but I think the reason we have so little to spend is that that keep buying big money players and letting them leave for free: McAuley, Norris, Leadbitter...now Martin? (plus all the flops such as Civelli, Lisbie, Priskin, Fulop etc.) If Martin won't sign, he should be sold to fund new players as Jewell has said. It seems to me that situation has been left too late.

@Mark, you're right there. I think however (hoping) that these new additions to the squad could be the inspiration that several players (including Martin) may need to sign new contracts. With no ambition it's hard to keep players, especially the better ones, so here's hoping that Martin appreciates that Town are moving forward. He always plays his heart out for us so I'm optimistic!

It seems since Keane we've had a demolition ball swing through the squad every twelve months. It's getting to the point where I don't recognise half the squad but worse than that I can't be convinced many of the players identify with Ipswich.

After the last week it's clear we need strengthening so let's hope these two improve what we've got and equally let's hope the squad can stabilise a bit.
