Taylor Terms Agreed
Thursday, 30th Aug 2012 20:10

Town are understood to have agreed personal terms with Peterborough United striker Paul Taylor and the 24-year-old looks set to sign for the Blues well before Friday night's deadline.

The Liverpudlian was at Portman Road yesterday along with fellow Posh player George Boyd to undergo a medical and discuss a personal terms but returned to Cambridgeshire without agreeing to sign.

However, as reported earlier, the deal always looked likely to be revived and after further talks today, Taylor is set to join Paul Jewell's squad.

According to reports elsewhere a deal which could ultimately be worth £2.5 million, presumably after numerous top-ups, has been agreed with the London Road club for Taylor, although this has not been confirmed by either club.

Earlier in the week a fee - perhaps only an initial payment - somewhere in the region of £1.75 million to £2 million was agreed for both Taylor and Boyd, the majority believed to relate to the former.

We understand that Boyd is keen to join Taylor at Portman Road, however, his much higher wages remain a significant stumbling block.

Peterborough Telegraph is saying that Boyd will be staying at Posh as Town are refusing to offer him a better deal. Apparently Taylor is one of the lowest earners at Posh so obviously we were willing to offer him a better contract. They are also saying that most of the money that was mentioned in the initial deal(1.75) was for Taylor??

So him and Chopra could be a nightmare to opposition defences... just what we needed :)

To the doubters, Paul Taylor is a very good player. Will add pace, a bit of bite and a powerful strike with an eye for goal.

His goal at Reading on Tuesday: http://www.footytube.com/video/reading-peterborough-united-aug28-127085

Ball drops...goal. With respect to our top marksman, you don't see Chopra doing that.

Boyd would be a bonus.

Two CBs now please Paul. This could be a rare exciting deadline day for us.

Methinks his agent tried to do yesterday what agents try to do all the time and whilst negotiating terms For Taylor & Boyd at ITFC he tried the favourite agent scam of 'I've just had a call from such and such a club and it is offering my men such and such more than you are so how about paying such and such and such more and you have a deal.' We said 'no', agent's bluff fails, he leaves hoping such a call would come, it hasn't. He tells Taylor 'oh well best you take what is on offer then' and the agent gets his nice fat fee! In the meantime the agent is still holding out for the call from any other club for Boyd in the hope that he will get more than what we offered - still 24+ hours to go, a long time in football and anything could happen.

A couple I defenders and, perhaps, a couple of squad players and the season starts fresh.

Given the week we've been through, I refuse to believe this until we have terminated his contract by mutual consent.

head1970 - Taylor is certainly NOT the worst of the two.

It even says in the article above that the majority of the original fee was for Taylor so its pretty obvious that he is more highly rated.

Why are you being negative for the sake of being negative?

He did indeed score a hat trick last year against us and was the best player on pitch at Portman road and brings some real quality.

Must have a defender lined up given Delaney has been released.

Keep the faith everyone and Coyb. And who was it who sold a certain Mr Rhodes?

Taylor got a brace against us, Grant McCann scored a brace and Lee Tomlin got the hat trick.
