Town Move for Mohsni Saturday, 8th Sep 2012 10:18 Town are understood to have approached Southend regarding loaning defender Bilel Mohsni with a view to a permanent deal in January. On Monday, TWTD revealed that the 25-year-old was spending the week on trial with the Blues.
The French-Tunisian put in an assured display and scored a 30-yard second-half strike during yesterday’s 6-0 U21s victory over Cardiff City at Playford Road.
Mohsni has a year left on his contract and although Southend are willing to let him move on, last month they turned down an offer of around £150,000 from West Ham after the versatile Paris-born defender, striker or winger impressed while on trial at Upton Park. The Shrimpers were said to want a significantly higher sum.
Football League clubs are able to sign players on 93-day ‘emergency’ loans from today.

Clubs and players that we deal with now will demand top dollar because they know how desperate we for centre backs! I dont understand why when we obviously have got money to spend (taylor) any of our top targets didn't sign? This guy Mohsni has been available all summer, why leave it until now? Hope he signs though we need him. Jewell OUT!!!!!!

Watched him yesterday and he is solid and good on the ground as well as in the air. Looks a better "footballer" than some of what we have so worth a punt. To be honest Hewitt looked a proper player and I am more excited about him getting properly fit.

you are telling me we released delaney for this guy??? delaney wasn't the best player in the world but surely he's better than a league 2 player

I live in n southend and i have seen Moshni play on numerous occasions. He could prove to be the signing of the season. He is a committed player. can play any where and scores goals. Remember Blackpool tried to sign him and how many bad players has Holloway signed. Sign him up!

people getting very excited ITFC were playing a Cardiff youth side another Jewell great signing nothing but trouble should fit in well here JEWELL OUT
ehol added 15:03 - Sep 8
Sign him Up - we need a centre- half with a bit of venom - looks like he can handle himself and score the odd screamer! I'm no 'Jewell out' boy BUT i just cannot believe we have 2 CB's and we have no cover for Xmas period even if we do get someone or 2 in on loan - just seems shortsighted, tight or we are a side no one wants to join. I'd play for Town for nowt but there we go!

Righty, have you got a medical condition where if you ever make a positive comment you burst into flames or something? It's the only explanation for your continual negativity!
menacinho added 15:46 - Sep 8
Walberswick, so Mohsni is a player other clubs steer clear of, eh? So that's why Blackpool bid for him last year as did West Ham last month. Yep, sounds like a player no-one wants, but don't let the facts get in the way.

Sign him now and he won't be eligible for busy Xmas games(93 days) good management I reckon, hey pj. This lack of defenders should have been sorted in the summer!!!!

hairbear - itfc put a value on players and if selling club want more than what we value them at then we walk away (or sit hoping davis), but we wont be held to ransome.

Menacinho are you related to Jewell because you defend him on every occasion as do quite a few on here so I assume you have no views of your own and accept those views from your beloved Jewell I will ask you again WHAT HAS HE DONE FOR ITFC ?. And before having a go at those who despise Jewell I have as much right as you to have an opinion.JEWELL OUT
menacinho added 16:32 - Sep 8
You do have a right to an opinion Righty, it's just that you are NEVER on here to praise a win or when something goes right. I am not related to Jewell, he made some bad mistakes last year but he is turning it round now IF we give him time. What has he done for ITFC? Got us playing good attacking football after the horror show that was Keane, rejuvenated Lee Martin, signed Chopra, Cresswell, Taylor etc. Sacking a manager a few games into the season is lunacy unless he has lost the dressing room, which he clearly has not.

Townlad21 just because he plays in the lower leagues doesn't automatically make him a poor player, Michael Kightly came from Grays, Adam Le Fondre from Rotherham and even Andy Drury from Luton. These players had something to prove.

I am really sorry but I see nothing to praise him for I cant think of anything he has improved for you to say a few bad mistakes he has cost the club millions in paying players off, look at Bullard must of cost ITFC over 1 m with what we paid him off for. Yes we are playing good attacking football but at what cost 7-0,5-2,4-0s and already this season 6-0 sorry I cant think thats an improvement. You say Chopra he again has cost the club much more than the transfer fee and as yet failed to deliver on a regular basis. Cresswell is ok but not as good this season so the jury is out on him. Taylor looks a good player but overpriced and certainly not what we needed , defenders were always more important. Then we come to his comments last year " I have learnt my lessons over having too many loans " what has he done gone and got more loans in a few weeks we will have half the team loaned. So Im afraid I stick to my thoughts JEWELL OUT
RegencyBlue added 16:57 - Sep 8
Sounds like he could add some much needed 'steel' into the side! The problem we have now though, in doing deals for/with any centre half, is that everybody in the game knows how desperate we are which is going to push up the price/wages of every player we are interested in. I really cannot see how getting ourselves into this sort of situation (again!) helps.
menacinho added 17:03 - Sep 8
Righty, I can understand where you are coming from on some points. Bullard did turn out to be an expensive mistake but most of us wanted him here so I don't blame PJ for him. Ingimarsson, Bowyer, Ellington, yes, they were poor signings.. I think we did need a player like Taylor, who has real pace which we lacked. I agree about the defence though, it is disappointing that it isn't sorted still but getting rid of Jewell now would not solve the problem. Loans can be useful if we make them permanent which is what PJ says he will aim for so I am going to trust him on that one. We will never see eye to eye over PJ but I don't mind having sensible discussions like this. As for Mohsni, I hope we get him, he may be a bit of a risk with his temperament, but we need a bit of fire in our bellies at the back.

He looks good & he can play up front if he has to & he will do well for us. So lets hope PJ can sort a Fee out & when comes Jan he will sign new years day or Juat day after & when he is on the Bench He can impact the defense & the attack.

So Noel, you can barely string together a sentence yet you think you know how to run a pretty large professional football club better than those already in charge. Righto.
walberswick added 20:43 - Sep 8
if west ham bid for him, why didn't he take them up on the offer? as he is still a southend player we are just looking at a loan, if he's a good player we'll lose him to blackpool or someone else in january, same as usual. seems we are the club taking all the risks. nathan ellington out!
