McCarthy Could Add to Squad Before Deadline
Monday, 19th Nov 2012 06:01

Boss Mick McCarthy isn’t ruling out adding to his squad before Thursday’s deadline for so-called emergency loans.

Speaking after Saturday’s 6-0 defeat to Leicester at the King Power Stadium, the Blues manager said: “Maybe, we’ll see.”

He was yet to speak to Leicester boss Nigel Pearson about Richie Wellens, who wasn’t in the Foxes 18 which trounced the Blues, returning to Portman Road for a second loan spell: “No, I haven’t because he was off the other day.

“I spoke to [assistant manager] Steve Walsh, who couldn’t give me a definitive answer. I need to speak to the boss and I’ll do that now.”

Town currently have the five domestic loans permitted in a matchday squad — DJ Campbell, Bilel Mohsni, Bradley Orr, Danny Higginbotham and Stephen Henderson — along with season-long loanees Daryl Murphy and Guirane N’Daw from clubs from overseas associations, Celtic and St Etienne respectively.

Meanwhile, McCarthy says he expects keeper Scott Loach, who missed the trip to Leicester due to the thigh injury he suffered at Walsham in the Suffolk Premier Cup, to be back in the squad for next week's home game against Peterborough.

I wouldn't just expect Loach to be back in the squad, my guess is he'll be back in the team!

After Saturday I'm thinking its almost more important to get shot of a load of passengers than get even more in. Our squad is drenched in mediocrity and would really do with some focus on a core set of players. Those here for a bit of a holiday can go.

The best thing you can do this week Mick is to send Henderson back to West Ham ASAP, as he has played less than half the games Loach has and he has conceded the same amount of goals and this after defenders cwere added to the squad to improve things!

Get rid of Henderson. Extremely average keeper, and definately not a better keeper than Loach. Would be good to get Wellens back too.

Note Jordon Rhodes the most prolific striker in the football league over the last couple of seasons. Also banging them in at full international level. Trotter Captain millwall ,being watched by half a dozen prem clubs. Macauly Mr consistent in a high performing prem club , Ledbetter captain of high flying Middlesborough. Delany ,class act for palace. I could go on , but my point is ,every single one of these players would walk into our side and improve it greatly. And we gave them away, which was purely down to poor management. The replacements have cost a fortune and are simply worse. There is alot to put right ,and its not going to be easy.

A cucumber could do a better job in goal then Henderson, send him back that will free up a loan space

A good list Bluefeast. I would add Walters to it as well. Have enjoyed watching him with Stoke and Gareth with West Brom and Garvan seems to be doing well at Palace. It really is quite mindblowing to think how many have succeeded elsewhere in the last 2 or 3 years.

Blue feast

How many on here wanted to get rid of Delaney and Leadbitter when they were as they were so poor.

Very disappointed with Henderson, I don't blame him entirely, the balls should not be threatening our goal so often, Midfield and the back row obviously weren't doing their jobs very well at Leicester, I'm sure Mick will sort it out but it is not going to happen overnight.

Bluefeast;
Trotter = Town fans constantly complained about Trotter, even comments about worst player to wear the Town shirt. Macauly = belittled by Town fans, 'sell him, no give him away for free' was the cry from Town fans in the early days. Ledbetter = Town fans last season moaning everytime PJ picked him Delany = Town fans were delighted when he left as no Town fans rated him.
It's not just about bad mgmt it's also about we have a bunch of moron fans who know nothing about football

Oldbluestu, there are some Town fans who will moan at anything, it's just the suffolk way I'm afraid.

I agree largely with the comments made by bluefeast some town fans have very short memories, they should be careful what they wish for and leave the Managerial work to the man appointed to do the job, we may well have reached the Premiership several seasons ago but for the club giving in to the fans chants of "Big Fat Joe Out" together with the usual insults that went with it.

Get rid of Henderson today, Loach as No.1, with ALB as back-up. MM has inherited possibly the worst Ipswich Town team ever.

Few comments about my list from others. My main point is really very simple. If a manager decides to move a player on or let his contract run down ,the skill needed is to replace the outgoing, with better incomings. I cant think of one example over the last few years. Thats the weakness of the management team.It doesnt matter what we as fans think of a player ,fact is its not us doing the buying and selling.

Simple
Ship out Henderson
Bring in a Big Strong Yound Player , currently with a premiership team , who will give 110% , add some real fight and quality and will LIFT THE WHOLE CROWD --- Big Connor

Instead of shipping in some has beens or unfit players no other team wants why don't we look at the youngsters and give them a run in the team (not 1-2 games and drop them) a good few games to let them gel and see how it goes. Mick is supposed to be very much a "give the youngers a chance" manager so lets see what they can do for once. Players that have left were poor when playing for Town then brilliant when they left so something is very much wrong with tactics, team selection or powers of be from above!!

I will drive Henderson back to WHam.
He is wiithout doubt the worst of the very many keepers who have pulled on our shirt these past few seasons. I say that as he is no better than we already have and he didnt want to come on a permanent. Lets face it he is here to 'keep his hand in' and doesnt give a t*ss.

at the moment, loans is the best MM can do, he cant buy anyone and some of our youths aren't up to the job otherwise managers would play them. Bringing in a few loans could help MM make decisions on who to bring in when January happens.
On the topic of Henderson, he doesn't want to play for us which he has said several times, he's a crap goalkeeper so yes send him back to West Ham where he can sit in their reserves.

As Bluefeast says our predicament is down to bad management not the players ever since the takeover by ME. We can only hope that they've finally appointed the right manager but it is heart-breaking to look at the list of mistakes made mainly by Roy Keane who left this club in dire straits with his disastrous transfer dealings though the CEO must take a share of the blame for allowing the contracts of good players like Macauly and Norris to run down and for his failure to keep Keane in check.

I agree totally with bluefeast we could of built a team around Trotter, Rhodes and Garvan. With some experience around them. Look at teams like Cardiff always challenging they keep nucleus of same team week in week out
