Campbell Won't Extend Town Loan
Thursday, 22nd Nov 2012 17:26

DJ Campbell has confirmed he will not extend his three-month Ipswich loan deal when it ends in January.

But the 31-year-old QPR striker, who has netted four times in eight Town appearances, is open to the idea of staying at Portman Road on a permanent basis.

“It will be interesting to see what happens in January but I will only do what suits me and my family, whether it’s signing full-time for Ipswich, going back to QPR or moving somewhere else on a permanent deal.”

Campbell has enjoyed his time at Town: “My decision to come here was spot-on. I’ve loved it and I couldn’t speak any more highly of this club.

“I’ll look at things when January comes round. I’ll consider my options and decide what’s best for me and my family. I don’t want to extend my loan and I won’t go on loan to any other club.

“The fans have been good to me, there’s a good bunch of players here and both the gaffer and Terry Connor have been great since they’ve come here.

“It’s a great club and staying permanently is definitely something I would look at but I haven’t made up my mind about what I want to do beyond January.”

Meanwhile, the final day on which Football League clubs are able to sign players on loan passed without any moves in or out of Portman Road.

Elsewhere, ex-Blue Damien Delaney has signed a new contract with Crystal Palace until the summer of 2014. The Irishman joined the Eagles shortly after leaving the Blues in August, agreeing an initial deal until January.

Academy schoolboy Cemal Ramadan and the Republic of Ireland U16s drew 1-1 in the second of two friendlies against Estonia in Dublin earlier today. Ramadan netted both goals in a 2-0 victory in the first on Tuesday.

I'm guessing if he think we are big danger by January of going down, he won't obviously sign. If we look okay, then who knows? Done good for us though so far, and if it weren't for his goals think where we would be?

DJ or Chops. Easiest decision I've ever had to make. We, as a club, gave a lot to Chops and he hasn't repaid us one penny. A striker... scoring goals... for Ipswich?! God knows what's next. A solid defence?

He likes it here, its a nice neck if the woods and he is obviously a family first man. Sounds like he'd be ideal.
Makes a pleasant change from some of the other players chosen life styles.

Analysts have confirmed that in 25 years time you will never be more 6 feet away from someone who has been on loan to Ipswich Town Football Club

Perhaps the club will try and persuade him to stay, especially if we do start to improve.January is a long way off in the football world!

I was dreading reading this when I saw the headline, but let's hope we can get him to sign permanently. Can understand him not wanting another loan.

ahahaha we keep getting smashed 5-0 and 6-0 and now we're losing our only goal scoring threat

In my opinion he'll almost certainly go to Crystal Palace. Holloway really rates him, tried to take him to blackpool but suspect location hindered that. Palace are local and all seems perfect match.

I cant honestly say from his comments whether DJ wants to actually sign for us or. Is he hoping another Club comes in for him and is using us as a spring board to that move?

Is that a nice way of saying there's no chance in hell that I'm signing for Ipswich

Think this could be a come and get me plea. Hope so anyway he's the only goalscorer we have! At least he's told us early do if Mick decides against buying him we have plenty of time to search for a replacement

He wants a secure future and who can blame him. An out and out 'come and get me' statement. So lets go and get him!

Look at his face after scoring, shows he is serious about helping us out and has been great. Soory but dont see a future for Chops and Ellington even though Chops has been good apart from this year.

Unfortunately the more goals he scores during his loan with us, the more he will be valued and wanted by clubs. His interview is merely putting himself up for auction. He knows that currently every goal he scores increases his options.

Whether he stays or not is not important at the moment, what is important is that he continues to score goals and come the end of his loan ITFC are well away from the drop zone.

Interesting how we have players on loan for only a short time and they want to be made a permanent signing, N'Daw was saying the same thing this week, ok he's looked a threat at times but it's hard to judge a player on just 8 games and there is the transfer window in the not to distant future. We should wait until the New Year and then judge the situation.

If DJ does move on in January, let's try Scotland alongside a 'target man' type striker, be it Barnett, Murphy or whoever. In all his time at the club he's not had that opportunity, think the answer to our problem might be here all along.

seems to be a sensible enough decision - thinking of his family etc - hope we can convince him to sign a permanent deal

Done well since he's been here and theres no doubt he's a good player but I worry about his wage as well as transfer fee. We've not exactly been splashing the cash in the transfer market lately!

One postive is I dont think he has a future at QPR, if they wont recall and play him when they are in the trouble they are now they never will!

I agree with TimmyH, lets wait and see how he does in the coming games and see what happens in January.
