Hyam: An Incredible Feeling
Tuesday, 27th Nov 2012 23:49

Midfielder Luke Hyam says scoring his first senior goal for his hometown club was an incredible feeling. The 21-year-old followed up after Nottingham Forest keeper Lee Camp had saved DJ Campbell’s second half penalty to notch Town's second goal in their 3-1 victory.

Former Northgate High School pupil Hyam told the club site: “It was an incredible feeling for me and, as you can see from my celebrations, I lost my head a little bit!

“It was a great feeling personally and also really enjoyable to celebrate with the lads at getting the three points, which is the most important thing.

“All the boys worked extremely hard and I think our performance deserved the win tonight.

"It was nice to get a start and hopefully I have shown the manager what I can do. I want to play games and it’s important to take my chance when I get it.”

@taylor15 - MM only brought him into the squad because of an injury - after playing only 1 game I think it's a bit premature to say 'we finally have a manager who has seen the potential in him'. PJ and RK both played him at least once...

Of course I really hope you are right because I think Hyam is fantastic and would love to see him cement a regular position!

See what happen when you give the younger players a chance Mick they work their socks off and play with pride now dont be afraid to give others a chance they wont let you down.
Well done young luke
I hope you thanked Campbell for your goal because no striker at this level should miss a penalty.

I'd much rather watch and listen to Luke Hyam play week in week out than Reo-Coker. No offence to the guy.

N'Daw and Hyam compliment each other well with two very attacking wide players either side. Considering Hyam and N'Daw both scored tonight, that is what we need!

Best performance by an ITFC player in a long time in my opinion. Played with pride and guts, you could see how much that goal meant to him. Hopefully he's going to cement his place in the team permanently now!

Love it when a young player comes through the ranks. Think managers are too worried about chucking them in to be honest.

I will never enjoy eating my own words as much as I did last night! On Monday I commented saying it would be good to see NDaw and hyam in the centre together but thought we would lack creativity and goals if we did! Well done boys you've laid my fears to rest good on ya!!!
