Town Move for Scottish Keeper
Friday, 15th Feb 2013 14:14

Town have made the offer of a contract starting this summer to Kilmarnock keeper Cammy Bell, according to Killie boss Kenny Shiels. The 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has won one full Scottish cap.

Shiels revealed that Town had approached the 6ft tall keeper regarding a pre-contract agreement, STV report: "Ipswich Town are in for him and there other clubs that have made approaches from England. I'll sit down with him in March and give him my advice," he said.

"What is said will be personal but wherever he goes he will be first choice, that's guaranteed."

Dumfries-born Bell, who has also held talks with Rangers, has been at Rugby Park since 2002, having previously been a youth player with Queen of the South and Annan Athletic. He has also spent time back on loan with the Doonhamers and Montrose.

Players with less than six months left on their contracts are entitled to speak to other clubs and sign pre-contract agreements.

Why mention Town and not name the other clubs, surely we are entitled to keep our transfer dealings private just like the other clubs. Not sure about Cammy Bell, but Kenny Sheils is definitely a bell e*d!

Sheils is a bit gooby, been been fined by the SFA a few times this season already for cooments to refs, but i think he may have wanted to name a potential buyer to get at Rangers- he is annoyed at the SUN 'reporting' this week that Bell has agreed to sign for them, 'defintely not true,' he said on radio up here on Wednesday night.
Can't imagine MM is pleased at this leak though, won't do much for Scott Loach's confidence.

For the life of me , i cannot see anything wrong with Loach at this level , ok he is not perfect but do you really think we are going to get a joe hart , ?

I think that Loach is a decent 'keeper and deserves a run in the team behind a competent defence. That said, I fear that Sindre94 is right and the management doesn't rate Loach, otherwise we wouldn't have these constant rumours about signing new 'keepers. Frankly, I'd have thought there were positions in the team that needed addressing more urgently (especially wide right midfield).

Can't say I'm surprised. Loach was a third choice Watford Keeper - who IMO was not a good enough signing. That said you can't fault his effort and shot-stopping. Overall though he's not a great keeper, with no control over his area. MM is right to target a new Keeper if we are to move forward.

Paul Cooper 5' 11' - I don't think so more like 5'9''. Looks good from his clips but can't most goalkeepers look good from clips? what about his mistakes? A phrase you don't hear to often ' a good Scottish goalkeeper'.
