Tabb Keen on Longer Stay
Friday, 8th Mar 2013 16:16

New loan signing Jay Tabb says he’d definitely be keen on joining the Blues on a permanent basis when his Reading contract is up in the summer. The 29-year-old, who will wear the number 18 shirt, is at Portman Road for an initial 28 days and is expected to make his debut on the left of midfield at Peterborough on Saturday.

Speaking in an interview with Ipswich Player, the former Republic of Ireland U21 international said: “I’m delighted to be here. Ipswich is always a club that I have enjoying playing at in my time with Coventry and now Reading.

“Mick McCarthy’s track record as a manager is really impressive and knowing what Ipswich is like as a club, it was a very easy decision to come here.

“I’m out of contract at Reading in the summer and it’s very unlikely that I will be staying there, so I’ll be looking for a new club and I’d definitely be keen on a move here.

“It’s up to me to prove myself to the manager, the players and the supporters and if I can do that, then hopefully something might get done.

“The priority at the moment though is to help get Ipswich up the table. It’s a massive game to start with at Peterborough tomorrow and I can’t wait to get going.”

why does it matter if a loanee dosent say we are a massive club or great training ground or a premier club in the wrong position in the championship.Over the years players say this but dont mean it.He said he knows the club, played here, and am sure he has made a few phone calls before signing.Jay put on a blue shirt and do the buisness. Its no use been a big club in league 1 like Shef utd or coventry.

Best of luck to Jay. It seems sensible to take a look at him on loan ahead of a possible free transfer in the summer, and we do need someone on the left due to Lee Martin's suspension. I just wish he had scored a few goals for Reading, as we need a goal threat from midfield.

Welcome to the club Jay. Please be quiet if you are trying to criticise him. He looks as if he is keen to come here. Who cares if he didn't say that we are a premier division club or anything, because we just aren't, and at least he didn't lie.

Whatever happens this season, we are in good hands because players want to play for MM.

As long as he stays here - long term prospects should be encouraging for all.

Doesn't sit well with me, this doesn't. We have a player suspended for the match...so we replace him by loaning one off the shelf. Surely the point of a suspension is that it's supposed to encourage a club to discipline its players not loan another in as a replacement? And what happened to the idea of players outside the first eleven training as well as they can so that when their opportunity comes, they take it? Why should they bother if instead of playing them when a first teamer is suspended, the manager just loans in a replacement? Over the season we must have had a whole first team plus subs bench of loanees!

How many players big up a club when they first join..yawn.Frankly don't care just show us what you can do on the pitch Jay and then you can big up the club!
As for replacing Martin well that won't be difficult but just don't get sent off.
Good luck in your first game Jay...COYB.
