New Scholars Inducted Friday, 26th Apr 2013 16:57 Next season’s eight new first-year scholars were inducted into the academy earlier today. The players and their parents were shown around Portman Road and had lunch with academy director Bryan Klug and joint-managing director Ian Milne in the Sir Bobby Robson Suite before meeting up with manager Mick McCarthy this afternoon. The eight are goalkeepers Jacob Marsden and Sam McDermid, midfielder Ed Ellis, Republic of Ireland U16 international striker Cemal Ramadan, defender or midfielder Matthew Clarke, who has already played for Town's U21s, full-back Joshua Emmanuel, left-back Amon Walton-Owen, who was previously with the Tottenham youth set-up where Klug worked until last summer, and Northern Irish U16 international striker Jonathan Smith. They begin their two-year scholarships in July. Academy head of recruitment Steve McGavin will be on tomorrow’s Life’s a Pitch on Radio Suffolk (midday-2pm) talking about the new scholars as well as next Wednesday’s academy showcase game against Spurs at Portman Road (KO 7pm).
