Loan Trio Want to Stay
Friday, 3rd May 2013 06:00

Manager Mick McCarthy says loan trio Daryl Murphy, Jay Tabb and Guirane N’Daw all want to stay at Portman Road with the Blues boss keen to keep his current squad together for the 2013/14 campaign.

He says the likes of Richard Stearman, who still has another season left on his Wolves contract, Jay Tabb, whose Reading terms are up at the end of June, and Daryl Murphy, whose deal at Celtic is also up in the summer, will return to their clubs after Saturday’s final game at Burnley: “Stears will go back, Jay Tabb as well.

“I’ve had conversations with them all the time they’ve been here, but [whether we keep them] depends. Certainly the ones who are under contract, I can’t do anything about. The ones who are on Bosmans, I’ll be talking to them about that.”

He added: “I like them all and would like to keep my squad together, but they’ve got what they want to do as well.

“I know them all. Murph would like to stay, Tabby would like to stay and Guirane N’Daw would like to stay. It’s [a case of] satisfying all their needs, I guess. And I don’t know what they are as yet.

"But in terms of speaking to the players and getting their perspective on it, they all want to stay.”

Regarding the out of contract first team squad members — Lee Martin, Andy Drury, Arran Lee-Barrett and Jason Brown — he has begun the process of telling them who will be offered new terms and who will be released: “I’m speaking to them. I’ve spoken to a few today and I’ll speak to some tomorrow.

“I’m just glad that other than the result [on Saturday] and making our fans who come and watch us happy and doing it correctly, I can tell them.

“I don’t want to be bringing them in on Tuesday because the season’s finished. I don’t want to be calling them in and giving them the 'nine o’clock news' when it’s done. At least everybody will know what they’re doing by the end of this weekend.”

McCarthy says that with squad numbers limited, there may be players involved on Saturday who have been told they are moving on: “I’ve only got 20 players.

“It’ll all be given out as a retention list, I’m not going to be giving it out in dribs and drabs. And I'd like to think I won’t read it on Twitter!”

I would prefer Ebanks-Blake. Bakary Sako also wouldn't be too bad.

Personally I don't feel N'Daw brings enough to the team, he's done ok but I'd let him go - can anybody else back up that he is on 8k a week?

Wasn't N'Daw trying to leae the country to find a new club last week? now he wants to stay 'cos it got turned down? Too much of a hit and miss player for me, we need stability.

xjoe-king. It isn't over until it's over is an old saying and often proves very true. If Wolves, who have all these good players some of whom you would like to see here, all pull together there is no reason they couldn't put three past Brighton and if Crystal Palace have a good day they might beat Peterborough. Remember Brighton and Palace meet each other in the Play-Off's so, no matter what happens, there is absolutely nothing riding on their results and if that happened Boro would go down rather than Wolves. Remember too, Mick has questioned "What wages are those players on?" Agreed? Being honest, I don't care who comes in, I am beginning to have sufficient faith in the MM/TC combination to trust their judgment and, for the first time in years, eagerly awaiting developments.

Please let N'Daw go.
We can get much better for the money.

Not sure he adds much alongside Hyam. I don't want us to play 2 defensive CM's.

Also, if he is guilty he should be fired.

Please not N'Daw, Agree with other posts, to hit and miss. Him and Hyam to similar. Need a Creative playmaker who can take control of Midfield.

We have to keep Stearman, Tabb will be a decent option on a free too. N'Daw and Murphy? Would be nice, but not too fussed about either way.

Stearman a priority. TABB is the only loanee that should be taken on. Yes N'Daw and Murphy have done okay neither are quality players but journeyman. N'Daw is on crazy money for such an average player and Murphy is just a bigh target man who doesn't score enough goals. IMO there are much better players available and out there who i'm sure MM will find

In my opinion:

N'daw - not so keen on him, he was very bad when I went to see us play Huddersfield and Watford in february. But obviously he was alright during december and november.
Not an important player to keep in my eyes, I would look for a better option.

Stearman - yes please. He's been outstanding for us, would love to see him stay, if we keep him that means we only need ONE cb to buy this summer. Because he can also play there and Hewitt can go in at right back, so we got different options

Murphy - yes please, always been a loyal servant during his 3 loan spells here. Brings us a target man and decent work rate. I like him.

Tabb - yes please, but not a must in my eyes. He's been good, and helped our team out. But can we get better? Maybe not for free.

Alan Judge is someone Id also like to see us sign, an excellent winger or attacking midfielder with great ability

N'Daw does a lot of defensive work which is just not noticed though. His passing leaves a little to be desired but he does know how to thread a good through ball. I'd really like to keep him, if not as a 1st choice but as a good defensive option on the bench. Stearman is the first proper RB i've seen at town in ages and we should get him whatever the cost! Murphy clearly loves the club but if we dont get him i wont complain too much, although he does have some physicality - but very poor reacions! Tabb also i'm not too fussed about but preferable we'd keep eveyone and add a few more still. More competition, the more effort!
