Town Set to Miss Out on Hunt
Sunday, 26th May 2013 21:02

Town are set to miss out on the signature of out-of-contract Wolves winger Stephen Hunt, who we understand is also a target of Leicester, Middlesbrough and a German second tier side.

The 31-year-old Irishman was approached by the Blues but TWTD has learnt that significantly better terms are on offer at the other three interested clubs.

Hunt, who missed much of Wolves’ second successive relegation season due to injury, played under Mick McCarthy at Molineux, the Town boss having signed him from Hull City for £3 million in the summer of 2010.

Congrats to Damien Delaney and Owen Garvan, two players who I am sure at this moment are enjoying a drink and pleased that they left Ipswich.
Not sorry Hunt is not coming as falls into catagory with Bullard,Bowyer,Fish and
Ingy who were all past it.
Bit worried like others that ITFC still seem unable to compete with other Championship clubs in transfer market for some signings, obviously not just about new rules, hope this wont mean our Manager will become frustrated about not being allowed to pay any money for players and have to rely on frees and loans only.

We have an average mid-table budget and not the sort of money available to clubs with much bigger home crowds such as Brighton therefore we will get trumped on some of Mick's targets but if those clubs want to waste their money on the likes of Hunt then it leaves fewer teams chasing the younger talent most of us want to see join at this time.

Agree with BossMan - we have what we have in terms of resources and though I think the club will need to be brave with a few paid for signings if we are to push on, we also don't want to make the mistakes of past years. Rather lots of Cresswells and Hyams than Bowyers and Chopras in my book. On a more negative note I am a bit concerned at the standard of some of the players we are being associated with (e.g. Broadfoot) though of course we only have TWTD and the papers word for it. I have heard we are in for some young Dutch players though and this appeals far more....

I do get irritated by "fans" complaining our "targets" going to other clubs. The list will be massive and I'm sure of the 30-50 or so players on the possible target list we will sign only 5-8, but thats why the list is so massive, chill out and enjoy your summer!
