Doherty Confirms Training With Town Thursday, 4th Jul 2013 13:51 Waterford United youngster Jack Doherty has confirmed that he has been training with the Blues at Carton House, as TWTD revealed on Friday. Left winger Doherty tweeted: “Waiting [on] me dad. Loved it here great bunch of lads, Ipswich. Good session [this] morning, now home to see a few pals.” Clonmel-born Doherty came through the youth system at the Airtricity League side and was promoted to the first team squad in August 2011. Since then the 18-year-old has established himself as a regular member of the senior squad. Capped by Ireland Schools, Doherty was called up to an Ireland U19 squad for a training camp in Spain in March. He previously spent time training at Playford Road when a schoolboy. Mick McCarthy, Terry Connor and the rest of the staff are obviously working the players hard during their week in Ireland with midfielder Luke Hyam tweeting: “Day 4: legs falling off.” The Blues face Dublin side Shelbourne in the only friendly of the trip at Tolka Park on Saturday evening (KO 5pm).
