Strong U21 Squad Facing Cardiff
Monday, 19th Aug 2013 15:11

Anthony Wordsworth, Paul Taylor, Christophe Berra and Freddie Veseli are all included in the squad for this evening’s first Professional U21 Development League Two game of the season against Cardiff City at Portman Road (KO 7pm). Entry is free with all fans in the Cobbold Stand.

On Saturday, manager Mick McCarthy said striker Paul Taylor needs to get games under his belt after the best part of a year out with a foot injury.

Wordsworth will be playing his second U21 game after a minor calf problem, the first was last week against a Republic of Ireland development team, while centre-half Berra admitted he was a little behind the rest of the squad after joining the Blues late in pre-season.

The rest of the U21 side, which is coached by one-time Bluebird Mark Kennedy, will be made up of academy scholars and development squad players.

Clubs are allowed to field three overage outfield players and an overage goalkeeper at U21 level.

Play Taylor right midfield to give him a better workout than he'll get up front ? Give Marriott 90 minutes and a chance to shine ?

Be rude not to go, as the club have made it free. Looking forward to it, should be good.

Taylor should be playing these games every week until he's fit now. We need him fit because he's one of the only creative players we have unfortunately.
