McCarthy Expects Quiet January
Friday, 6th Dec 2013 06:01

Manager Mick McCarthy says he doesn’t expect to do too much business during the January transfer window.

“I don’t think there’ll be that much about,” he said. “There’ll be loan deals perhaps, youngsters a bit like Tunners from Premier League clubs.

“Maybe you might be able to swap players around if players are coming out of contract at other clubs, that’s a doable thing at that stage.

“If somebody’s got one coming out of contract and they know they’re going to lose him and maybe we’ve got someone in the same position we might be able to swap them around.

“I think that’s always a possibility. Sometimes just to breathe a bit of life into it, something different, but we’ll not be rushing out and getting loads of players in.”

Joint-managing director Jonathan Symonds recently told TWTD that there would be cash to spend if McCarthy wanted it, but the Blues boss says he’s yet to speak with the club’s owner about how much might be available: “I’ve never asked him the question. I’m just cracking on.”

Typical Mick keeping his moves underpass, gives nothing away unlike jewell who used to let everyone know who he was bidding for.

Mmmm worrying thing is we brought 10 players for nothing and still lost close to £10 million.
Cant see Mr Evans spending much on players if he is pouring money into the club to keep it afloat.

Strange that when the club was £20 million in debt we were bankrupt but now we are £82 million in debt we are ok and not to worry!!!!!!!

In an ideal world, Ebanks-Blake on a free to partner McGoldrick or replace his goals if he got injured; Hunt on a longer term contract; Stearman to play right back and add cover for CB's. Then MM manages to get the best out of Taylor, giving us real pace and dribbling ability down the right. Maybe Jordan Graham will supply this but he's not ours and is very young.

Realistically, SEB on a free, Hunt to extend his stay, the rest of the team remains as it is and we battle our way to a 6th place finish and experience the excitement of the play offs!

karlosfandangel. oh for some1 on here who gets the fact that we didn't sign 10 players for nothing. every one of those players cost agents fees, signing on fees, wages, etc. so far from nothing. as for your point about the difference over the debt? before evans took over all the debt was to outside sources(banks, businesses), and therefore was a big problem, especially if they called in those debts. when evans took over he bought those debts and therefore owns all those debts, so therefore is basically in debt to himself. because therefor, the debt is inhouse, it ceases to be the problem it was before

MM quote if we have someone coming out of contract we could swap him to freshen things up, who have we coming out of contract in the summer?

The only thing I really think we need is a proper number 1 goalkeeper in January. Dean Gerken is far too unreliable. I'd also like to see a back up RB signing for Chambers now Hewitt's injured and Veseli not getting a look in.

At the end of the day i really hope that come january if we are still in the mix and only a few points shy of the play offs ME backs mick with some cash to sign the 2 or 3 quality signings required for the final push. Micks doing his job and we still there or there abouts, which is amazing bearing in mind we have also dropped 14 points from winning positions. So disappointing. Come on ME back your manager better than you did in tje summer

karlosfandangel, i think you need to look at how the debt is formed, town have other overheads that cost a lot, you don't just make a loss purely based on players you buy

A bit of a sad state of affairs financially at this club - it will be interesting to see if ME does give MM some transfer kitty come January if we are teetering on the brink of the play-offs, let's face it he's given 2 tried and tested and failed managers cash.

Karlosfandangal - this tells us one of two things:- Typical of the bullsh.t we are fed - OR - This Club is in a right mess financially, and getting worse FAST. WHY ????????

If either is the case, one word - DIABOLICAL.
