Clubs Monitoring Gabbidon Claim
Tuesday, 21st Jan 2014 11:57

Crystal Palace’s Wales international centre-half Danny Gabbidon is the latest defender the Blues and several other clubs are reported to be keeping tabs on.

According to Sky Sports, Town, Norwich, Bolton, Leicester and Blackburn are all “monitoring” the 34-year-old’s situation with his contract up at the end of the season and no talks regarding new terms currently underway.

Cwmbran-born Gabbidon, who is 6ft 1in tall, started his career with West Brom prior to spells with Cardiff, West Ham and QPR, before joining the Eagles in September 2012, having been offered a contract by Town earlier that summer.

This season the 47-times-capped defender has been a regular in Palace’s side following their promotion to the Premier League. A drop into the Championship during January seems highly unlikely, although a move away from Selhurst Park may be on the cards in the summer.

Heard he has brilliant vision and scores from midfield all the time ......

To old would just be another 'experienced' player looking for a paycheck in the last years of his career. We have been there and it didn't work.

ABSOLUTELY NOT

Reasons he won't join the Town - FFP, and he's no better than our existing central defenders. He would need to be a legend of the quality of Tony Mowbray (when he joined Town) to make it worth breaking the bank for him.

NO. No more players at the end of their career please.

Not understanding this link sorry.
We have 3 central defenders.

It's a goal scoring/creative midfielder that's the priority.

How's about bringing Garvan back?

would love to see garvan back but dont think he is micks cup of tea-
i dont think MM sees the midfield as a priority as he has no intention of playing through it

MM loves hoof ball so anyone who can give it a good punt up the other end will do just fine

in that case battyblue maybe we should resign delaney!

pay palace £1m for Delaney and send all the U21's on loan. sign some more defenders over 30 and play the game at walking pace so our forwards don't look out of place.

But he is 34!!!!!!! I would rather see us play younger players who want to improve themselves and progress their careers. If they are looking for a 34 year old who is past his best, I will give Mick my mobile number. COYB

More defenders linked any more in here and you might not see our goal.Good tactics MM ,also i might add thoses guys are old and injury prone just the type we get in here other teams garbage and let our good ones out .I rest my case on this issue Mick..

Nitroblue makes me laugh really coz a lot of people on here always slated delaney and called him a donkey etc, he then went and joined palace and got promoted and is playing regularly on the premiership. Same as Mcauley too. Just goes to show that either they had a bad spell in their career whilst playing for us, or that they maybe werent quite as bad as we all thought they were!!! saw on match of the day it was delaney who made a defence splitting pass for Palace's penalty at spurs, the penalty was possibly the worst pen ive seen in my life though, but that a different matter

Three reasons why we wont be resigning Garvan, 1, There is no money available because we have an owner who is not interested. 2, He would not fit into the current team because he likes to play football and not run about like a headless chicken. 3, He does not suit Boring billy (MM) because he has a brain.

funny was thinking of picking Gabbidon for my fantasy football team! Seriously I think he is too old we should be looking to the future.

Speaking of fantasy football I see Garvan has played 93 mins of first team football so far this season, go figure out....

Buying hoof defenders is Micks priority so even though we need midfield players like a hole in the head this is as good as it gets for Ipswich fans.

Keep some perspective, it's Sky sports and they mention premiership teams looking at him too. We can be linked with everyone from Van Persie to Maradona, but we all know (don't we????) that when news is quiet it's easy to link teams with anyone who can still bend down and tie their boot laces. It doesn't mean that they are all coming here, and one thing about Mick is that if he is interested in players he doesn't advertise the fact to the press.
