Nouble Unfazed By Critics
Friday, 7th Mar 2014 06:00

Town striker Frank Nouble insists he is unfazed by the criticism from some sections of the Portman Road crowd.

“I don’t really care about it to be honest,” he stressed. “If it’s coming from the manager or a member of staff, that’s the only time it matters to me and I’ll take on board what they say.

“I know that if I’m doing well for them I’m also doing well for the club. I don’t feel I have to prove people wrong. It’s about proving it to me and my team-mates — if I do that then everything else will come.

“The manager has shown faith in me and hopefully I can pay him back. I think we’ve only lost two of the games in which I’ve started and I don’t think that’s a bad record. When I’m in the side we tend to do quite well so hopefully I can stay in there.

“I had a spell where I played about eight or nine games in a row and the manager has been fair with me. None of the players can really complain because he has given everyone a chance.”

Nouble revealed that some fans have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions.

He added: “You always get the odd one who will say something, like ‘I thought you could have done better’ but you also get the others who say good things. I don’t think too much about it regardless of what they say.

“I find it easy to switch off and not let what other people are saying upset me. The club are having a good season and I’m part of it. If you look at the overall picture it’s not difficult.

"It’s plain and simple — everyone is doing really well, we’re having a good season and people should be encouraging us and getting behind the team.

“This is the best position Ipswich have been in for, what, four or five years? You don’t get good football when you are in or around the bottom of the league. We were in the top six not so long ago and now we’re fighting for the last play-off spot.

“I can’t understand how there is negativity when we are in that position. Personally, I feel like I’m improving every day. I just want to get a good run of games to fully show what I have to offer. It’s a bit hard when it’s stop-start and any player will tell you that.”

Well said Frank. If they weren't criticising you they would be criticising someone else. It's the nature of a moaner.

I don't dislike Noble but feels he still needs work. I also feel he used to play much better with JET toward the end of last season and feel his struggles aren't due to being bad but adapting to a different way of playing. He has potential as we saw last weekend but he needs to work hard on consistency if he wants to silence the doubters.

Agree with a lot of the comments above! As we have seen before, consistency is key is this league so if Frank can use the fact he is playing more regularly to impact on his consistency levels then i dont see why he cant retain his place.

We saw the same issues with JET but i think Frank seems more intent on working hard and improving his levels whereas i got the feeling JET already thought he had made it. Ive always liked Franks attitude so hopefully he can prove those doubters wrong!

Good man, Frank. Illegitimi non carborundum!

Contrast his mature response to harassment on Twitter with that of of a certain former ITFC personality.

I don't think I've ever wanted an ITFC player to prove to be a success more than Frank. He does have the occasional nightmare where you wonder how he's actually become a professional footballer but I still think he has something to offer. He gets so much stick but he's such a nice guy and hopefully he can find some form and shut a few people up. Keep going Frank!

Keep going Frank. Doing the dirty work is never quite as obvious to some supporters as the man who scores the goal at the end of the move. However if you can't believe how anyone can be negative about how we are doing this year compared to recent years, then just hang around TWTD, there are some corkers on here that will have you peeing yourself with laughter!

If Frank Nouble ever scores 10 or more goals in 1 season in any of the top 4 leagues i will run round the perimeter of Portman Road naked for charity.
I dont doubt hes a great bloke and he probably trains like a demon but hes never a footballer. No natural ability whatsoever and without that you just cant make it.
I would love him to prove me wrong and become the 2nd coming of Dalian Atkinson but im not gona hold my breath.
And thats not slagging one of our players off, its just a fan whos watched a lot of football down the years giving an honest opinion.
