Jonny Williams says he’s delighted to have extended his loan with the Blues until the end of the Championship season having enjoyed his first month at Portman Road. The 20-year-old Crystal Palace player’s second month with Town was confirmed last night.

Williams told the club site: “I’m delighted to be extending the loan because I’ve really enjoyed my time at Ipswich.

“It’s been a great experience for me and I’ve loved working under the manager and TC.

“I’m excited to get back training with the lads and playing my part as we try and push into the play-offs.”

Palace can recall the Wales international at 24 hours’ notice if he is required during the closing weeks of their relegation battle, but if that doesn’t happen and the Blues reach the top six the loan can be extended into a third month covering all three play-off games.

Blue041273 added 20:51 - Apr 1 Absolutely no chance of a permanent deal, as that would require a transfer fee. While we remain in this league no transfer fees will be paid. However if we get promoted money might be made available. But let's be practical, if JW can't make it at CP why should we believe he can hack it at Premiership level. That said he is an absolute diamond at Championship level and if CP get to survive in the EPL we should look to signing him up on a season long loan next season. He knows we love him; that should be good enough for an interim arrangement.
